The Bowler:
Ball speed = 17
Rev Rate = 400
PAP = 5 ¾, 3/8 up
The Ball: Motiv Sigma Hybrid
Surface = 1000 light polish
The Sigma Hybrid is the strongest symmetric ball ever produced in the Motiv line, rating just under my Raptor P7 in overall hook. The biggest difference from the Raptor to the Sigma hybrid is the hook shape. The Raptor has more of a pronounced asymmetric shape (sharper breakpoint) and the hybrid is smoother but super strong off friction. I’ve found the Hybrid to shine on medium to long flat sport patterns, but for me it also shines on normal house shots. Both types of patterns have a smooth midlane but tones of continuation on the backend. If you loved the Sigma Tour you’ll love the Hybrid for more oil. I would also recommend this ball for strokers looking for the same sigma tour reaction that the tweeners have. Personally I’ve been using this ball more than any other at this point due to the ball control and fantastic power.
In closing the sigma hybrid has a strong controlled reaction for medium heavy oil with the award winning sigma tour reaction.

The new Diablo Red and Charcoal Pearl Sigma Hybrid is built on award winning technology from the Sigma Tour, which won 1st place as the Most Versatile Ball of 2011 in the BTM Reader's Choice Awards.
While the Hybrid edition does feature the same proven core design, the cover technology and box finish provide a different zone of performance. Designed for medium-heavy oil, the Sigma Hybrid reads earlier and provides a smoother ball motion.
League bowlers that are rev-challenged or speed dominant will appreciate the strength of the Sigma Hybrid on a fresh house shot. Tournament bowlers will use it on medium-heavy volume sport patterns to destroy the rack.
INNER CORE: Sigma™

The Motiv Sigma Hybrid picks up right where the Sigma Tour left off, Another winner in this award winning line!
For me the Sigma Hybrid is a stronger, more mid-laney ball than it's predecessor but has that same GREAT continuation through the pins that the Sigma Tour had. The main thing I look for in a stronger ball is it's ability to carry the corners when playing extreme angles and boy this ball didn't disappoint! I could get into 5th arrow easily on Kegel's Autobahn pattern and still get the ball through the fronts store energy and corner downlane!
The Sigma Hybrid really does exactly what it's advertised to do,The hybrid shell gets through the fronts with ease but the surface picks up in the midlane and has a very smooth heavy roll to the pocket and continues through the pins perfectly. This is a great compliment to that of the Sigma Tour!

Review:
In my opinion, you simply can not go wrong when you use the already proven Sigma core. I have had my Sigma Hybrid for a while now and I must say this ball is an absolute tank! The Sigma Hybrid comes out of box with 1000 wet sand. What I see from the Sigma Hyrid compared to the Sigma Tour is a much stronger read up front and in the midlane. The Sigma Tour is more angular in the backend. I felt 1000 wet sand was to much surface my typical house shot here in Waldorf, MD. So I brought the surface up to 2000 with polish. What an amazing difference it made for me. The ball is much cleaner through the front part of the lane without sacrificing strong midlane read and an incredible strong continous backend reaction. I threw it last night on the WTBA Paris and shot 937 for 4 games. Paris is a 47ft lower volume sport pattern and the Sigma Hybrid absolutely wacked it! Motiv continues doing a great job making products that are much needed in my arsenal! Go out and get yours today! Be sure to check out my Sigma Hybrid video on the link below!! Get MOTIVated!!!!!!

Likes: MOTIV’s latest release filled up a nice spot in my arsenal. I decided to drill mine with a RICO layout. I knew with the current surface of 1000 wet sand that this ball would want to read the lane early so I drilled mine RICO to give me a smooth but strong continuous motion on heavy volume sport shots. I was hoping to get a similar reaction to what I have with my Raptor but a tad stronger and that is exactly what I got. The Sigma Hybrid gives me a slightly stronger backend motion (even with the RICO layout) and 2 to 4 more boards of overall hook compared to my Raptor. This is a great piece on sport patterns when you need to keep your line and angle tighter without the worry of the ball overreacting when it hits the friction. As with every MOTIV piece I have thrown now the carry is unbelievable! I also like to use mine on the house shot once the transition happens and I need to move inside as I see superior carry with the Sigma Hybrid. Another gem from MOTIV!

The new MOTIV Sigma Hybrid has the new Atomix Hybrid cover.
It's the strongest ever used on a Sigma core. The low RG gets the
Sigma Hybrid into a early roll, but the ball still gets through the
heads without too much effort. The early roll helps smooth -out
the ball at the backend.
The Sigma Hybrid has a strong read of the midlane and a very
continuous motion at the breakpoint.
When the Sigma Hybrid encounters friction at the breakpoint,
it has a very heavy ,but consistent move toward the pocket. There
is never a overreaction.Very predictable and easy to read.
The motion to the friction is quicker when at 4000 and highly
polished.
The Sigma Hybrid is stronger throughout the entire lane than
the Sigma Tour. This is a very nice compliment to the Sigma Tour.
This ball is best suited for oily mediums.Just move inside the oil line
and this ball shines.

I use my Sigma Tour as my Benchmark ball but when I need a little more "POP" in the back and the Raptor is too strong this is the PERFECT fit to challenge the lanes. This ball comes out of the box at 1000 wet sand but you may need to change the cover to match up to your bowling style other than that this ball is as good as it looks going down the lanes.

Lane Condition: USBC OPEN PATTERN Layout: 45*x 4”x35* Using the award winning Sigma core, Motiv has strengthened their line-up with the new Sigma Hybrid. The combination of the Sigma core (2.47 RG, .047 Diff), with the new Atomix Hybrid coverstock has created a ball that has no issues giving you the controllable, aggressive ball motion you want in heavier volumes of oil. The New Hybrid and Sigma tour will give any bowler a GREAT 1-2 punch on any lane condition. While The Hybrid is more aggressive overall than the Tour. The Hybrid even with the stronger cover still has no problem getting through the heads before giving me a very strong midlane read and smooth but powerful backend.Every pattern that I have thrown this ball on it has excelled and has became my BENCHMARK ball. When the lanes are broken down the ball is still clean enough to get down to my breakpoint and retain enough energy to make a strong, continuous motion through the pins Here is a link to my YoutTube Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U02Jx29a7IQ&feature=g-upl&context=G2eca0d3AUAAAAAAAAAA Also be sure to check out www.motivbowling.com Dustin “DB” Baker – Motiv Regional Staff

Bowler Specs:

Axis rotation: 50-60 degrees
LAYOUT (S):

2) 50 x 4.5 x 55 NO HOLE, BOX
Ball one was drilled weaker as I typically have trouble getting the SIGMA core to match up with my game. I usually have to utilize a pin placement that will retain tilt and rotation longer. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this ball read the lane and finished through the pins despite drilling the guts out of it (for me anyway). After a couple days testing on numerous patterns and center this piece came with me to INDY for the Dick Weber Playoffs.
I had a pretty good look there with this ball, but I asked Brett Spangler to lay me out another to compliment that one as I needed something that didn't go bonkers down lane. He drilled one with a stronger pin and larger VAL angle to smooth out the breakpoint some. I used that ball for the majority of my 7 game block and had a respectable showing. It did exaclty what I wanted. When it began to burn up in the front I switched to the 5.25 pin one and didn't skip a beat.
Overall I am very satisfied with this piece. Like I said, Other balls with the Sigma core have been very hit or miss with me so this is a refreshing addition to my line up. I intend on drilling at least two more. The cover really matches up for someone who is speed dominant like myself.
For those of you who are familiar with the TR2 will come to appreciate the Hybrid's reaction. It makes the same type of motion as a TR2, but with continuation down lane. The TR2 had a tendency to just tumble and stop.

The Sigma Hybrid has a brand new coverstock wrapped around the versatile core used in the Sigma Tour. I drilled mine 60* x 5 1/2” x 40* which is one of my favorite layouts. At the box finish, this ball begins it’s move about 2 or 3 feet sooner than the original Sigma, and hooks about 3 or 4 more boards total for me. This ball has a real nice, even arcing motion.
On a house shot, I’m able to play further inside (both with my feet and target) with the Sigma Hybrid…which allows for a more consistent reaction. When I pull the ball a little inside of target, I find that the coverstock on this ball holds the pocket really well, without diving through the nose. Here is a link of me bowling with my Sigma Hybrid on my bowling center’s house shot, the Kegel Main Street Pattern. In this video, I also roll a Sigma Tour, for comparison purposes.

I can’t wait to try this ball out on heavier sport patterns. We’re all looking for a predictable ball on the tougher shots, and everything I’ve seen so far has shown me that this ball is just that. The even arcing motion is just the ticket to keeping the ball in play in a lower scoring environment.

The Sigma Hybrid is MOTIV’s latest release, built on award winning technology! The Sigma Hybrid features the most versatile ball of 2011 the Sigma Tour, wrapped with the all new Atomix Hybrid coverstock, taking this ball to another level! The Diablo red/charcoal gray also looks beautiful on the ball return.
I have drilled two Sigma Hybrids to date. The first Sigma Hybrid I used one of my favorite and common layouts (50 x 5 x 40, no hole) which put the pin over my bridge and the second Sigma Hybrid 50 x 4 x 75, placing the pin under my ring finger and a weight hole placed on P3. The pin up Sigma Hybrid is one of the most versatile balls I have ever thrown. Out of the box at 1000 wet sand, it is earlier and more continuous than a Sigma Tour, and with a coat of Power Gel Polish on top of that, the Hybrid is longer and more angular than a Sigma Tour with the same layout. The pin down Sigma can handle oil out of the box at 1000 and is very strong and continuous!
In comparison to other balls in the line, it fits perfectly between the Raptor and Sigma Tour, with a more rolly motion than a Raptor Attack. On tougher patterns this ball shines as when you need just that little bit extra off the spot. And for league bowlers, it is a HOUSE SHOT MURDERER. Bowlers with higher speed, looking for an upgrade, or bowlers who are rev challenged will benefit most from this release. Stop by your local pro shop and get yours today!

This is an outstanding release from MOTIV. It has the awesome sigma core with a super hybrid cover wrapped around it. If you liked the Sigma Tour, this ball will be a great compliment to it. It's smoother off the friction and overall a little stronger than the Tour.
Here's my video for the Sigma Hybrid. I hope you find it useful!

Lane Condition:
40ft THS on AMF HPL
Medium-Heavy Volume
Layout:
4 ½” x 4 7/8”
90* x 4 ½” x 70*
Using the award winning Sigma core, Motiv has strengthened their already powerful line-up with the new Sigma Hybrid. The combination of the Sigma core (2.47 RG, .047 Diff), with its strong midlane read and backend motion, with the new Atomix Hybrid coverstock has created a ball that has no issues giving you the controllable, aggressive ball motion you want in heavier volumes of oil. Where my Sigma Tour excels in medium oil conditions, so too does this ball does in heavier conditions, giving me a solid 1-2 punch of Sigma satisfaction. While more aggressive overall than the Tour, my Hybrid still has little problem getting through the heads before giving me a very strong midlane read and smooth but powerful backend. I have been able to play a variety of lines with it so far from ‘straight up’ on the fresh to being around 5th arrow at the end of a league set. It has continuously excelled on a variety of patterns. On the fresh the Hybrid gives a very pronounced midlane read which is great for being able to control the breakpoint when there is a lot of oil or when the backends are flying. When the lanes are broken down the ball is still clean enough to get down to my breakpoint and retain enough energy to make a strong, continuous motion through the pins (stuffing a 9-pin from 5th arrow is not all its hyped up to be as this ball can do it easily). Combined with the Sigma Tour, the Sigma Hybrid creates a dynamic duo that is tough to beat on any lanes.

SIGMA HYBRID---Release Date 4/13/12
The Sigma Hybrid is THAT piece I as a Regional Tour player have been longing for. It’s the piece of my Arsenal that I can go to for the added OIL flip and corner turning I desire. Its strong through the front like the Raptor but provides that added angle and strong turn that my Raptor doesn’t for me. Its out of box 1000 grit finish allows me to move a bit deeper into the oil pattern and provides the recovery room right into the friction. This ball is the real deal for many conditions from your typical house shot to the toughest tour conditions. The proven SIGMA core provides one more tool for the serious bowler and expands on that already incredible technology with a piece for the Cranker in all of us! Don’t miss this one –If you like your Sigma Tour you will love this one!!!!!

Sigma Hybrid – 25 x 5 ¼ x 50
With the amount of success the Sigma Tour has had there was bound to be another Sigma released. The Sigma Tour and New Sigma Hybrid share the same versatile Sigma core, but the Sigma Hybrid reveals the New Atomix Hybrid coverstock.
The Sigma Hybrid has a 1000 wet sanded finish and out of the box this ball is best suited for heavy to medium conditions. It is as angular as a ball can probably get with as much surface as it has out of the box. Comparing the Sigma Tour and Sigma Hybrid with their different out of box finishes, the Hybrid forced me about 4 boards deeper on the lane and still provided great entry angles. The Sigma Hybrid also ignored the carrydown, while the Sigma Tour got noticeably weaker on the same condition.
My video session with the Sigma Hybrid was on Kegel’s Easy Street with a synthetic surface. Playing that deep, with that much surface I naturally see a lot of corner pins (Because I am more up the back of the ball), this was not the case with the Sigma Hybrid. For as much continuation as the Sigma Tour provides I can’t believe that the Hybrid allows for even more continuation!
You can see my video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTAZpxG_VWs
This again will be a benchmark ball for many people. It is strong enough to throw on the fresh, and when polished it is clean enough for lighter or broken down conditions.
If you missed out on drilling a Sigma Tour or if you are looking for a ball that is similar in shape as the Sigma Tour but maybe need more overall hook order yourself a Sigma Hybrid. Available starting April 13th!
