Description: When we asked pro shops if we had gaps in our product line, the most common response was that we needed to offer a very affordable performance option for entry level bowlers. Therefore, we are excited to introduce the Ascent™ line from MOTIV™. Available in both a solid and pearl option, the Ascent™ line offers two different ball motions for Light Oil. The gorgeous Pink/Purple Pearl edition is much longer with a more angular backend. The Red/Blue Solid Ascent reads earlier and produces a smooth strong arc to the pocket. Both Ascent™ balls combine the MOTIVator-Z™ cover from the QZ2 Backdraft with the proven Recon™ core . The resulting RG is 2.59 with a .025 differential on the 15# model. Invite your entry level bowlers to elevate their game with the new Ascent™. Make their first ball purchase a top quality piece of equipment from MOTIV™

Lane Condition: 40ft THS on AMF HPL Medium-Heavy Volume Layout: 4 3/8” x 3 3/8” 56 x 4 3/8” x 43 Motiv is releasing its first entry-level price point equipment with the Ascent line, but there is nothing entry level about the Ascent Pearl. The combination of the high RG/low Diff Recon core (2.59 RG, .025 Diff) with the MOTIVator Z pearl coverstock (used in the QZ line) allows the ball to easily push down the lane and make a strong backend motion, one not normally seen in an entry-level ball reaction. I laid my Pearl out with the idea of using this ball to its strengths and it has not disappointed. With this core and coverstock working together I have no problems getting the ball to glide through the heads and the midlane. Once the ball gets down to the break point it reads the spot aggressively and makes a very pronounced move towards the pocket. Once going into the pocket the Pearl has no issue getting through the pins, driving through them with incredible energy (thanks in part to the Recon storing energy for such a late move). Once the lanes begin to break down I can start getting left and use this ball to bounce off of the dry and keep a strong, angular motion through the pins even with larger launch angles. Entry level pricing with an advanced reaction, this perfectly describes the Motiv Ascent Pearl. The solid ascent has a solid version of the MOTIVATOR-Z coverstock, while the Ascent Pearl has the same cover as the QZ2 Black/Blue Pearl. Tne factory finish says 2000 or 1000 depending on where you look for the solid. The Ascent Pearl comes out at 2000 grit polished. My personal gut suggests 1000 grit by hand for the solid as it very closely resembles the box finish. The core utilized is the Recon core from the previous Recon RX1 Solid Orange, and Silver Pearl balls. It looks like a golf tee and is rather tall. With that being said it is going to be a high RG core without question. The solid Ascent is best for speed dominant players or for those who prefer a smoother reaction on medium/lighter oil patterns. I could see this being a great piece for fresh short oil such as the Cheetah and Viper (depending on lane surface) as well as high friction Chameleon. The Pearl Ascent will be a great piece for slower speed players and those with a higher rev rate bowling on high fricion patterns/lane surface (i.e. Long Island) The Ascent Prl is best used when stronger pieces of equipment are burning up or hooking early. I could see this Pearl also working well when the fronts are blown up, yet the backends get tighter. It will clear the heads well and retain energy for a stronger, more "flip" backend motion. The Ascent Pearl retains a tremendous amount of energy because of the core/cover combo. The core doesn't rev up early and the polished pearl coverstock is so clean. I don't have a choice but to open up my angles with the pearl. If I don't the breakpoint can become erratic and I'll leave some designs. Just because the Recon has such weak dynamics (16# RG: 2.59, diff: 0.018) doesn't mean it won't hook. When used on the APPROPRIATE enviornment (s) it will really shine. -Darren Andretta, MOTIV Staff Member

Ball Specs: Motiv Ascent Pearl (Reactive OOB 2000 Wet Sand / Power Gel Polish with a Symmetrical Core) Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5 Over 1/2 Up Speed 15 mph Review: Elevate your game with the new Ascent line! The Pink / Purple Pearl Ascent features the MOTIVator-Z cover from the QZ2 and the proven Recon core. The gorgeous pearl cover provides the ball with length and an angular backend. I find that on a 2nd shift league I can play the track with the Ascent Solid than later ball down to the Pearl without moving my feet and stay in the same zone that I was playing. I see that the Pearl gives me about 5 feet more than the Ascent Solid Summary: A great performance value “Entry Level Ball” with great Hit & Carry Motiv & Turbo Grips Staff Member Brian Hirsch www.Motivbowling.com

While the MOTIV Ascent Pearl is priced as an “entry level” performance ball, in my experience it is an essential piece for me when it comes to a broken down house shot or short sport patterns. I drilled mine with an 85* x 5” x 45* layout, which is one of my favorites. I rolled the Ascent Pearl on the 34 foot WTBA “Stockholm” pattern during a practice session. This ball was lights out about 3 or 4 games in, when I needed to open up my angles after the oil carried down a bit. (The Ascent Solid was what I used for the first 3 games). I also used the Ascent Pearl recently in a PBA Regional bowled on the Cheetah pattern. I averaged over 230 during qualifying using this ball for the last 6 games. This ball is extremely clean through the fronts with just the right amount of back end to kick that 10 out. This ball also shines on a “second shift” house shot. Here is a video of me rolling the Ascent Pearl (and Solid) on a low volume 40 foot house shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKuPXy1Z0gs Also, this ball looks real good going down the lane. I get more comments “Hey, what are you throwing??” than any other ball I’ve thrown. And the low price, well, that’s just a bonus! --Kevin Gallagher— PBA Member MOTIV Staff

The Ascent Pearl is one of MOTIV’s first true entry level balls, the other being the also newly released Ascent Solid. Since I tend to be speed dominant, I am typically not one that gets a lot of use from balls designed for lighter conditions. Let me say the Ascents DO NOT hit like entry level balls. Bowlers of all levels will find it beneficial to have an Ascent in their bag. If you are looking for a ball that can get down the lane with ease on just about any pattern this is an ideal ball. To give you some comparisons the Ascent Pearl is very similar in distance compared to the Blue QZ2, but to me it had more torque and continuation when encountering friction. Compared to the Silver Recon the Pearl Ascent is not quite as long, but had much more torque. Overall, this release will allow me to play straighter more often, but at the same time creating more entry angle than some of MOTIV’s current balls designed for lighter conditions. You can see my video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6G8TPH1wvA I would recommend either Ascent to anyone who is looking to purchase a quality ball at a VERY affordable price. You also have two choices, the Pearl Ascent (Pink/Purple) for those who aren’t looking for a lot of overall hook and the Solid Ascent (Red/Blue) for those who could use a little help getting the ball to cover more boards.
