Review:
The Primal Scream is built to be very clean down the lane with a vicious backend motion on medium to heavy oil. It features the dual-density Impulse V2 core, which has been newly engineered to provide a 2.55 RG and .050 differential. This symmetric core provides the perfect amount of length so the Whiplash Solid Reactive shell can unleash on the backend. The Primal Scream delivers outstanding entry angle and bull-dozing continuation through the pins.
I drilled my Motiv Primal Scream 65 X 4 1/2 X 45 and kept it at box surface which is 4000. I have to honestly say this thing is a backend monster!!! I really like to use this ball when the lanes break down from fresh and I am forced to move left and open my angles up. The angles I can create with Primal Scream is absolutely amazing. This best part about moving left with the Primal Scream is that I never sacrifice carry! This ball has become my new favorite "IN" ball so to speak. It compliments the other recent backend monster by MOTIV in the 2 Cruel. The main difference is that the 2 cruel is stronger overall. My 2 cruel picks up a bit sooner but then makes a strong backend motion towards and thru the pins. The Primal Scream is definitely more angular than the 2 cruel, it gets great length and then makes an angular "check mark" type move towards the pins. You will never see a ball with a solid coverstock be as angular as the MOTIV Primal Scream. That is a fact. Don't waste anymore time and Get MOTIVated!!!!! The Motiv Primal Scream is an excellent ball and a lot of fun to watch roll down the lane and crush the pins. This is one of my favorites. It easily gets through the heads which is especially beneficial on wood lanes and then makes a very defined turn at the breakpoint. This ball carries the corners so I find myself shooting at less 10 pins.
I have used this ball on various conditions from a medium oil pattern at 38 foot and a heavy oil pattern at 45 foot and on both wood and synthetic surfaces.
I am right handed and throw the ball at 17mph. The ball is drilled 60x50x4 with a P2 hole and was left at the factory finish. I use the Motiv Power Gel Scuff to keep the ball clean and ready to react at all times.
Not only have I had great success with this ball but my customers have also. I have drilled this ball for various styles of bowlers. I have bowlers shooting their first 300 games and others that have never bowled a 700 series and now have bowled 3 of them within a month.
If you want a ball with a superb back end reaction then this is a great choice. Thank you Motiv for another excellent ball to add to my arsenal.

I'm not a Motiv staffer but I do like Motiv's products. For my first 90 games this year I've used Motiv's QZ2 and averaged 188 in my first game of the set but had 199 average for games 2 & 3. So, I got the Primal Scream to see if it would help in game 1. So far, it has worked much better than expected. After four 1st games, I'm averaging 216 with the Primal Scream and nearly as much in game 2. Game 3 usually requires the QZ2. I play down and in, am an older bowler probably throwing around 14-15 mph with a rev rate around 300 +/-. I used the length and less hook, high track drilling recommended by Motiv. This ball goes very long, hits very hard, and draws rave reviews on how it looks going down the lane. It is surprisingly controllable for a strong ball. Its not so hot, for me anyway, when the oil goes away. I can throw the Qz2 out and around effectively but, so far, the Scream doesn't like that shot off my hand. This is terrific ball and is super when there is some oil. I would recommend it to anyone with any style but especially for those who like to go down the boards and get strikes.

The MOTIV Primal Scream is a green, mean striking machine with the dual-density Impulse V2 inner core and the Whiplash Solid Reactive coverstock with a 4000 grit sanded finish. The Primal Scream has a RG (2.55) and Diff (.050) which allows the ball to easily get through the front part of the lanes while storing energy for more backend “pop”. The symmetric core distributes the motion of the ball and allows the much needed continuation through the pins. I changed the coverstock to 2000 and I was able to use the ball on both medium to wet lane conditions on most oil patterns.
The Primal Scream is a great addition to the MOTIV product line and should be in your bowling bag at all times.

Untamed Agression! The tagline for the Primal Scream does not disappoint. The Primal Scream features the Impulse core found in the Primal Impulse, however with a slight different density. The modified Impulse core (Impulse V2) wrapped on a solid version of the Whiplash cover (found on the 2cruel) creates the most angular ball to date from MOTIV bowling. Plus the green, black, and orange neo marks look awfully sweet!
I have drilled two Primal Screams so far. The first one was drilled 60 x 5” x 40, with a weight hole needed on P2. This ball is great for me with additional surface (1000) or with polish. This ball takes surface changes exceptionally and with polish allows me to play much steeper angles than anything else in the product line. The second Primal Scream is drilled 50 x 5.5” x 60 and this ball gives me more mid-lane, a smoother transition down lane, and a ton of strikes! I like to leave this one out of box as 4000 grit abralon is not dull, nor shiny. This Primal Scream is always in my bag.

Lane Condition:

Medium-Heavy Volume
Layout:
4 ½” x 4”
70* x 4 ½” x 40
It is not every day that someone can find a ball that has the ability to cut through heavier oil and retain backend angularity while also being able to glide easily through the heads on medium conditions. On this day, however, the Motiv Primal Scream is the ball that fits this role. The newly created Whiplash solid coverstock (finished at 4000 Abralon) gives the ball the bite it needs to grip the lane while the Impulse V2 core (2.55 RG, .050 Diff) pushes the ball through the heads with ease. This combination allows for a strong, angular motion down lane and devastating power to drive through the pins. The more I throw my Scream, the more versatility I have discovered. On the fresh pattern I usually play a straighter line and have watched the ball grab the dry and quickly change direction, giving an impressive angle into the pocket. As the nights have worn on I have been able to continuously move left without sacrificing any hitting power. The ball still glides through the heads easily and gives the same strong backend motion as though it still had all of its energy stored up. On the most dramatic of nights I have moved a total of a 12-7 from start to finish and have not seen any diminished performance. If you’re looking for a ball that can grip the lane through the oil, and still retain energy for a strong backend jolt, the Motiv Primal Scream is what you are looking for.

The Primal Scream is The piece that was missing in Motiv’s line of bowling equipment. It features a modified version of the original Impulse core dubbed "Impulse V2." The RG has been slightly lowered from 2.60 to 2.55. The cover stock is a solid version of Whiplash, which is also used on the 2CRUEL. My Scream is drilled at 55 x 5 x 70.. This ball has a huge back end motion that will allow you to make the corner on any shot and is extremely clean through the heads for being a solid cover..This ball is very strong and angular; however you can still play up the boards on heavier volume shots. This ball is THE BALL that MOTIV was missing in their line up that allows us to get in and “wheel it” like no other and This piece is quickly becoming the first ball out of my bag every time I bowl… This is a must have if you are looking for something to play the middles of any house shot or any shot you are wanting to get a nice sharp break point.. please see my video I have linked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ik1gVGG_ZYo ….as well and always check www.motivbowling.com... The Motiv Primal Scream!!!! Awesome, and fun bowling ball, great looking, and an absolute homerun. I previously witnessed this ball in action before I got the chance to drill it up, and i was impresssed and in love before I even drilled mine up! This ball had amazing hitting power, and awesome continous backend, I saw messengers flying and Pete Weber like angle into the pins, some even left solid 9 pins with some messnegers coming across to get them. So I put it to the test on my own, first thing I noticed was how clean it was through the front part of the lane, and the backend and recovery I received was jaw dropping, it reacted exactly how I had witnessed with other staffers throwing it, this ball out of the box rolled a little earlier, which is expected, but with polish, shot through the fronts with such ease. This ball is one of the best Motiv has ever had to offer, and a ball that can fit in everyone's hands, covering all styles of the game. I suggest you try one for yourself, and see what I mean, you WILL NOT be disappointed!

PRIMAL SCREAM-
This ball is unbelievable! By far my favorite even overtaking my previous favorite The Sigma Tour. Its strong move to the pocket off the back of the pattern makes it a must have for all bowlers. Dull or Shiny this ball reads the lane with incredible repeatability and makes a consistent move to the pocket and provides that continuous move through the pins that current Motiv user have come to know and love.
Laying out two different balls one pin up and one down provides me with an easy transition from one to the other as the pattern transitions without changing my look or forcing me too make a drastic move. The pin up version provides me with some added length and a strong backend motion while the pin down provide a bit tamer back end but still allows the ball to read mid lane are retain maximum energy as it enters the pocket.
I can honestly say this one is a must have !!! Oh and the black and green colors make it look really cool going down the lane! Now is the time to try MOTIV –Evaluate your needs! Identify that missing piece in your bag and see how this fits! I love it and I think you will too! Never be afraid to try new things because you’ll never know what you might have missed out on!

MOTIV Primal Scream Review
Overview
The Primal Scream cover and core combination creates more friction
friction than it's predecessor the Primal Impulse.Earlier revs and a better
read in the midlanes. The ball also has a much heavier continuation than
the Impulse. The Primal Scream creates much more overall hook
throughout the lane than the Impulse.
Kegel: Winding Road 39' on/ Pro Anvilanes /Using the 4000 OOB surface.
,
The Primal Scream really shined for me on this pattern. On the fresh shot
the Primal Scream easily made it through the heads and created enough
friction in the midlane in the 4000 OOB surface. And still stored enough energy
for a nice move on the back end.
What I needed to do on the fresh shot was to keep the ball slightly
to right. This helped keep the ball off the nose. With my ball speed, the ball
has too much reaction on the fresh to play the 39' pattern direct. Also it was
key for me to make sure my ball speed was consistent.
During games 2-4 the Primal Scream allowed me to open up the lane more. Now
I could feed the ball further to the right, and use the back end motion of
the Scream created to get better recovery when the lanes transitioned. The
pin carry was better when the angles were steeper. The margin of error on
this pattern is low.So having a ball that created steeper angles is a plus.
On this pattern, the Primal Scream started to be too much ball after 4 games.
The ball needed to go back in the bag.The Sigma Tour was the ball of choice when
the pattern started to go away.
Overall the Primal Scream was a great ball for the flatter pattern when the lanes
lanes opened up.
42' House Shot/ on 12 year old Anvilanes/Using 4000 OOB surface and polished.
The Primal Scream gets through the heads easy with a good read of the midlane.
With a very heavy and quick reaction to the friction. When I hung the ball to the right,
it still made it back to the pocket. The ball has excellent recover. As the lanes went
through the transition on the house shot,I needed to keep the shot in front of me
and follow the oil line. This ball is so strong at the back end that I needed to keep
the shot in the oil,and not get it into the oil to early.Getting the ball to the dry too quick
on the house shot caused it to face up too early and leave flat 10's.Keeping the shot
in front of me during the first game helped pin carry.
As the shot transitioned during games 2-3,I could easily move deeper to created
steeper angles. With the steeper angles during the transition the pin carry was
increased. The miss area wasn't so critical. The ball now had extra area to come back
without overreaction. And the hold area left was nice. When the lanes went away, this
ball is too much. It's back in the bag.Unless you have high speed and lower revs.
Polishing the Primal Scream in it's 4000 sanded condition helps create the desired
length and reaction I wanted through the front and midlane, but it created too much
flip at the back end.The back end motion was too strong to play the same part of the
lane to start a session. Now I had to move in 4-6 boards on the approach and 2-4
on the lanes.Starting on 28,hitting 16 out to 9.Compared to 23/12/7.By moving into
the oil allowed me to create better angles, now the pin carry was better during the first game because the ball now faced up later.
As the lanes transitioned over games 2-3,the polished Primal Scream allowed me to
stay with line longer, without force feeding the ball through the heads and midlanes
to my breakpoint. Now the ball really showed it's worth. This helped me trust myself.Knowing that the ball wasn't going to check up too early.
When you are sure of your ball reaction, this helps keep you from making a lot
of physical and mental mistakes.
The Primal Scream compared to the 2 Cruel
Th 2 Cruel has more overall hook through the entire lane. The Primal Scream is
smoother through the front part of the lane. With more back end at the back of
the pattern than the 2 Cruel. The Primal Scream reacts much quicker to the friction
and has a longer continuation the the 2 Cruel. The 2 Cruel is a better oil ball than
the Primal Scream. But for creating angles and opening up the lane, the Primal Scream is better suited

The Primal Scream is an exceptional piece of bowling equipment. It features a modified version of the original Impulse core dubbed "Impulse V2." The RG has been slightly lowered from 2.60 to 2.55. The coverstock is a solid version of Whiplash, which is also used on the 2CRUEL. My Scream is layed out 50 x 6 x 40. I honeslty haven't changed the surface. I just use Power Gel Clean and every 6-12 games I clean it with a 4000 grit pad. It always seems to read the lane the right way for me. I haven't had trouble with it being squirty at the breakpoint which is neat for me with my faster ball speed. I really see this piece being an asset for me on the medium tour patterns such as Viper, Chameleon, and Scorpion. This piece is becoming my quintessential benchmark ball replacing my Sigma Tour. I consider the Primal Scream to be a high friction production with a moderately fast response to friction. I would also like to add that the Sigma Hybrid is very similar in terms of friction production, but is significantly smoother than the Primal Scream. -Darren Andretta, MOTIV/Vise Inserts Regional Staff

Motiv Primal Scream
The new Primal Scream from Motiv is a great compliment to the Motiv family of balls. This ball has a huge back end motion that will allow you to make the corner on any shot. This ball is extremely clean through the heads and still stores energy and makes a big move on the back end. This ball is very strong and angular; however you can still play up the boards on heavier volume shots and even plays well on house shots. I drilled one of these at 70x5x30 and the other at 50x5x50. The first one gives me a little more length and then makes a huge move on the back end. The second one starts hooking a little earlier and has more overall hook. Drilled the same as a 2 cruel the Primal scream was a couple of boards stronger and more angular. Being a PBA member this ball will be the first thing out my bag on any shot with high volume or patterns that play very long. This is a must have and I think this ball will rival the hook potential of any ball on the market!

I have my Primal Scream drilled 65x5x45 with a P3 hole and factory finish 4000 sanded. Rev rate:300 Speed 17mph Rotation 40 to 60 Tilt 10 PAP 4 7/8 right & 1 1/4 up
MOTIV’s newest release “Primal Scream” definitely is an eye catcher! Good color combination of black/green with the orange highlights. The Primal Scream features MOTIV’s newest cover technology the “Whiplash solid reactive” cover. This is a solid reactive cover which differs from the Whiplash hybrid reactive cover on the 2Cruel. I drilled mine up for a THS pattern and got exactly what I was looking for. I found that I had to transition quicker with this ball from the high volume track area due to how strong this ball comes off the friction. I have found though that I can just start inside more and the Primal Scream creates plenty of entry angle for me to get the corners out no matter how deep I go. This has actually allowed me to start on a part of the lane with a lot less traffic therefore allowing me to only have to make minor adjustments throughout the night and eliminating the major mistakes I would see when I fell behind the transition move. Another great piece from MOTIV!!

I had heard the buzz about the MOTIV Primal Scream… about it being clean through the fronts, and a super strong angular back end finish. Even though I had high expectations, I’d have to say I was still surprised how strong it is. I drilled mine up with a layout of 70* x 4 1/2 x 40*. When you play deep inside angles, you need to have confidence that your ball will recover when you hit your spot. The Primal Scream is just that ball for me. That confidence allows me to be firm with my speed when I’m in there around the 4th / 5th arrow, without worrying that the ball will blow through the breakpoint. Here is a video of me throwing the Primal Scream. In this video I also throw the Primal Instinct, 2 Cruel and Ascent Pearl for comparison purposes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3eAB0IfCOA
As you can see in the video, this ball has a pleasing crisp shape on the backend. When I hit the pocket thin with the Primal Scream – the pins really mix well… when other balls may leave a 2 pin, or worse – a 2-8-10.
All tournament bowlers know, you need to have a strong piece that allows you to play deep when the lanes are trashed. This is the best ball I’ve thrown that gives me that look. Or, if you just bowl in a house shot league and are looking for a ball that will make an aggressive move down lane to wow your friends, either way this is the ball for you.

Primal Scream
Description: The Primal Scream is the third generation Primal and allows for the most overall hook potential in the line. The Primal Scream shares the same Whiplash coverstock as the recently released 2 Cruel, except that it is a solid version of the Whiplash coverstock, instead of a hybrid. Both, the 2 Cruel and Primal Scream also share the same 4000 wet sanded out of box finish. The Core in the Primal Scream is a modified version of the Primal Impulse core.
Reaction: The Scream changes direction faster than any of MOTIV’s previously releases. This ball is designed to create steep entry angles, so for those who feel that they don’t see natural big backend this ball will provide! This ball is best suited on medium conditions with the potential to really open the lane up. For many, this will be the first ball out of the bag because of the ability to start and finish with it!
Comparisons: I experimented with polish over the box finish of the Primal Scream and 2 Cruel and the Scream was cleaner and stronger at the breakpoint. After some surface adjustments I preferred the polish over the box surface as I felt it gave me the full potential of the intended purpose of the ball. With my Primal Scream polished I can see it filling a void and getting a lot of use when my Sigma Tour is lacking length or too smooth. My Primal Impulse tended to be too clean to use regularly and although it had recovery it is not near the recovery and torque the Primal Scream provides.
Summary: This ball allows MOTIV to have a very well rounded lineup. The Primal Scream combines predictability and angularity. This one wasn’t designed for one condition or bowler style, everyone will find the Primal Scream beneficial!
