Additional product information:

Brunswick knows and understands tradition better than any brand in bowling, and it’s become a tradition over the last few bowling seasons to release a new Melee Jab. The Melee Jab line has traditionally been a go-to for bowlers wanting a clean and responsive Brunswick ball, and this season we are excited to introduce the Melee Jab Carbon. The Melee Jab Carbon uses a cover new to the line, Activator Xtreme Hook Pearl, most recently found on the Zenith line of balls, to update the line and stay on the cutting edge of shiny ball performance. Brunswick fans turn to this line of balls for performance on medium conditions when a strong but predictable shiny ball is needed, and the Melee Jab Carbon will soon be a favorite for those players.

    Melee Jab Carbon

Posted by Rich Kravchuk on Apr 25th 2023

Keeping with the Brunswick Melee Jab line of bowling balls, this ball does not disappoint. Taking the Melee core and wrapping it with the coverstock from the Zenith Pearl gives this ball a predictable arcing shape down lane. I've used a variety of drill patterns on the Melee Jab Carbon including pin up, pin down, short pin, and reverse pin layouts. All work well across a variety of lane conditions. Using a pin down or reverse pin layout, below the grip mid-point with the CG placed out between 30 - 45 degrees allows this ball to get cleanly through the heads and mid-lane and still allows the ball to hold energy for a strong backend reaction, enough to cut through any carrydown. I recommend this ball for players with a medium to high rev rate and who know how to play across the lane from different attack zones.

    Best jab yet

Now we all know how good the melee line has been for Brunswick. The melee jab was my absolute favorite one until this carbon came out. It’s the perfect benchmark ball. For me it’s cleaner than the blood Red and midnight jabs and have more kick down lane. Its versatility is just amazing. If youre looking for a predictable benchmark ball that can be used at multiple angles then get this one. It takes a lot for me to say a ball is better than the OG purple jab but this one is it.

    Serious pearl power

Theres not too much more that can be said about the Melee Jab and its predecessors. They just give you the ability to cross a lot of boards on some chewed up lanes and get it to hit like a truck. The Melee Jab Carbon is a little bit different to the Midnight Blue that its a touch earlier which is going to make it a bit more versatile than the Midnight Blue. I can take my Carbon out a bit earlier in my league session and it lasts a lot longer on the lanes before I need to switch to something weaker

    Melee Jab Carbon ball review

The Melee Jab Carbon is a cleaner and more angular version of the Midnight Blue Melee Jab. I use it when I need a little more length and pop through the pins than the Midnight Blue Melee Jab. The Melee Jab Carbon is a must have for tournament bowlers or if you bowl a second shift league.

    Melee jab carbon

Melee jab carbon I don’t even know where to start with this ball. First it’s a jab so it’s gotta be good right? It’s better than good. It took a couple weeks and some different patterns but i can say this is my favorite of all the jabs. Yes even the purple. Just a basic pin up layout for me. This for me is a little more ball all round than the purple jab. It’s a hair sooner and just as strong off the spot. I’ve been able to use this ball from league patterns to numerous sport conditions. If you need a new benchmark ball that’s extremely versatile then you’ve found it.

    Best Melee of all

Melee Carbon - this ball is a must have in anyone's arsenal. This a a great ball for those medium conditions or later in league or tournaments when the conditions are breaking down. Comparing the Carbon to the other Melee Jabs, I'd say the Carbon is a touch smoother and more controllable.

Melee Jab fans are going to love this one. The carbon Is a great universal piece to add to the bag. Light to medium oil conditions will get jabbed by the carbon. Cover is very versatile it you want to add a little teeth to it. Strong motion with great continuation. Good ball down from the Knockout Black Blue when you need a little more distance. Great solid symmetrical to add to the bag for league and tournament conditions.

    Long, Strong, and Predictable

BALL SPECS Ball Weight: 15 lbs DRILL PATTERN Ball: 65 x 5 3/4 x 50 X Hole (if there is one): none BOWLER STYLE Rev Rate: 375 rpms Ball Speed:17.5 mph off hand PAP/Track: 4 5/8 over 3/4 up SURFACE PREP Grit: 4000 Siaair BALL REACTION Length: Clean Back End: Skid/Flip COMMENTS The Melee Jab Carbon is a great long and strong medium condition type ball. This one brings back memories of the original Melee Jab and is great in any situations where friction is present. This one is currently may favorite ball in my bag. The Jab Carbon plays well from multiple angles and I have successfully bowled 3 games of league with 10 people on a pair with it. Amongst recent balls, this one is as responsive as the Midnight Blue Jab with the length of the Blood Red Jab. In my opinion this is the most angular ball currently in the line. If your looking for long and strong, hit em' with the Melee Jab Carbon.

    Melee Jab Carbon

Posted by Richie "Revs" Kravchuk on Sep 23rd 2022

Bowling Profile Style: Experienced OG rev dominant power player. Speed: 14 - 14.5 mph. Rev Rate: North of 450 off the hand. Track: High (10+ in.). PAP: 5 3/8 ^ 1. Now to the Melee Carbon. Brunswick's Melee core, while being symmetrical, is outstanding and has been featured in several mid-range balls from the Jab, Upper Cut, and Knock Out, all of which I've used in competition. What separates the Melee Jab Carbon from the others is its coverstock, which is the same as that used on the Zenith Pearl. I drilled 2 Carbons: 1) 3-4" pin with the pin in line with the CG right down the center line of my grip, which makes the layout 65 x 5 3/8; and 2) 3-4” pin, similar as ball 1, but the layout is 45 x 5 3/8. The purpose of these layouts is to each ball to have a different look on the lanes, with 1 going longer down lane and 2. By minimizing the side weight, these balls have a strong arc and store lots of energy into the pins. Overall, the Melee Carbon has a strong reaction down lane. It's a ball that’s best used after the shot begins the break down and there's reasonable carry-down. The combination of the Melee core and the Zenith Pearl coverstock enables this ball to get cleanly through the heads and mid-lane without sacrificing hitting power. The coverstock is easily adjusted to suit a variety of heavy to medium oil conditions, or when the oil pattern is medium to light, but longer than most house shots. I would recommend this ball for those who are adept at altering a ball's access tilt at release and have a good sense for coverstock adjustment with Scotch-Brite pads. However, I would not recommend this ball for speed challenged players because they might have difficulty holding the pocket.
