What is a Katana? The katana is a Japanese sword characterized by its distinctive appearance: a curved, single-edged blade with a circular or squared guard and long grip to accommodate two hands. We believe the one handed bowler will love it too.

One of the most exciting features of the Katana is a new asymmetric core design that yields lots of pop downlane. This is by far the most angular high-performance ball Radical has ever launched. Along with great performance, the Katana has fantastic shelf appeal.

The Katana has a new cover formulation and for the first time in Radical’s history we have named a coverstock, we call this cover; Forged. Forged along with the new angular core makes this ball extremely responsive. Our testers have commented on how quickly the Katana changes direction with a sharp angular motion that consumers will love.

The combination of fantastic shelf appeal, a new high-end asymmetric core, and an aggressive responsive cover make the Katana a real winner.

long and strong with a hook that never quits!

this ball is awesome. smooth in the fronts and sharp hooking in the back end. you can play straight up 10 or move left and send it out. this katana will always hook back to the pocket!!

With the introduction of the More Cash in August 2017 Radical started a trend looking to become the most angular company not only the most hooking company. While the More Cash did not hold the most angular rating it lead the way for the Katana! The Forged coverstock paired with the Katana asymmetric core taught the bowling industry what angular really is. Rather than being the "big wheel" ball in your bag the Katana is clean through the front part of the lane and does not over read the midlane saving all direction change for the break point creating the most left/right-right/left motion to date. The Katana is a great option when it's time to start giving the pocket away and you want to have confidence that the ball will still turn the corner down lane and continue enough to kick the corners out. Surface changes to get the ball to slow down in the right part of the lane make things even better.

The Real Deal
By: Todd Allred on February 17, 2018

The Katana may have a Smoky look but there’s no illusions when it comes to the performance. It glides down the lane with easy and offers the most back ever seen. This ball actually goes sideways down lane and slices through racks like a hot knife through butter. If you like to see down lane ball motion this is exactly the ball for you.

A Terrific Bowling Ball
By: Jeffrey Poholsky on January 31, 2018

The Katana is simply an outstanding bowling ball. This core and cover are a perfect fit together to create back end motion and hitting power. Mine is drilled 55 x 5 x 65 and that gives me the feel of controllability along with strength. I use this ball on most everything except heavier longer patterns. But for house shots and medium length sport patterns it works as well as anything I have ever thrown, plus helps to create mistake area downlane. Phil and Mo have a real winner here, don't miss out on your chance to add this to your arsenal. Jeff Poholsky

The Katana is Special!
By: Bill Baker on January 01, 2018

The Katana is a special ball from Radical that provides a new motion I haven't seen from their other releases. The Katana is a super strong asymmetric pearl that is responsive to friction (thanks to its Forged coverstock), but doesn't give me a hockey stick motion. I have traditionally struggled with over/under reactions with pearls due to my speed & tilt, but this Katana gets down lane, predictably turns the corner and keeps going. This ball is special and will definitely make some heads turn. Bill Baker Brunswick Advisory Staff

Awesome Backend
By: Danielek on December 04, 2017

Another great ball from Radical. This ball flips and makes a sharp turn continuing through the pins. Even playing a wet/dry condition if you put it in the dry part (friction) the ball doesn’t burn up-it continues hard through the pins. You can play some wild angles and still get phenomenal pin carry!

Radical Katana I'm a left handed bowler. Ball speed around 15 mph. Rev. Rate around 275-300. Well Radical Bowling Technologies has designed a bowling ball that screams Off the backend. My choice of layout is 45 x 5 x 35 with a P3 balance hole. I have try this ball on a long sport pattern and it rolls great. I have try this ball out on a house pattern. On the house patten more in and seen it out toward to the gutter. On the sport pattern. I played a little straighter. This is one awesome ball. Robert Way

Big backend motion
By: Bill Richardson on November 19, 2017

Yet another breakthrough for Radical and a big core motion. The new Katana is the most aggressive back end ball produced by Radical to date. With a new core/cover combo the Katana does not stop at just hooking on the back end it also continues the the pins so there is no loss in pin carry. The Katana is also a great compliment with the More Cash and Cash Radical balls.

Unbelievable Backend
By: Bryan Bannach on October 31, 2017

Radical has been the leader in hook strength for a few years now, but with the Katana they are going after the most backend on the market. They may have done just that. I drilled my Katana 50x5x35 which usually gives me length with a quicker response to friction. The Katana is by far the most continuous skid/flip ball I have ever thrown. I actually had to retrain my brain to use this ball. On a wet/dry house shot, “usually” when I throw a ball at the friction it makes a quick response and burns up, leaving flat 10s or other weak hits. The Katana on the other hand corners and continues through the pins when my brain tells me it shouldn’t. If you want a ball that will make the corner and carry from crazy angles the Katana is for you!
