Beloved name is back!
Right Hand - 15.5 mph down lane, 335 +/-, PAP 4.75, 1/2 up, layout is 4x4x2. I have only bowled a house shot at Bowlero Edmond, OK. The new Storm Alpha Crux seems to live up to the hype and brings back one of the most beloved names in Storm's lineup. Designed for heavier oil conditions, the Alpha Crux combines the proven Catalyst A.I. Core with the new GI-26 Solid Reactive coverstock. It creates a strong, predictable motion that reads the mid-lane exceptionally well and continues hard through the pins. On the house shot, the Alpha Crux didn’t overreact off friction; instead, it created a smooth, powerful shape that works great on the fresh . I think the strong mid-lane will make it ideal for league bowlers and tournament players and I feel it will be a reliable ball to start a block or utilize on heavier volume patterns. Even on missed shots, the ball seemed to maintain energy and drive through the deck. I believe it is a great option for players who prefer a strong asymmetrical ball that doesn't quit down-lane. The ball also does well against lane shine. However, I feel this is a first ball out of the bag but could see it be too much ball for house shots that tend to player dry, especially for higher-rev or speed/rev matched bowlers. I do plan on adding Power Edge to the ball to see what motion it will create. I will reported back on that process soon. If you are looking for exceptional traction in heavy oil with strong predictable midline motion with great continuation, this is the ball for you! Although, I feel it is just under my ION Max, it will stay in the tournament bag. Mike Walker Anne Marie Duggan’s Pro Shop Edmond, OK

Alpha Crux
As a one-handed bowler with a 14.5 mph ball speed and a 350 rev rate, I'm always looking for a ball that can handle higher volumes of oil without sacrificing continuation through the pins. Drilled 4x4x2, the Storm Alpha Crux AI gives me the strong midlane read, predictable motion, and powerful backend continuation I need when lane conditions demand more traction and control. The 4x4x2 layout matches up exceptionally well with the Alpha Crux AI. The pin-to-PAP distance allows the core to rev up efficiently and create a strong, readable motion in the midlane, while the shorter pin buffer helps the ball maintain enough responsiveness downlane to continue through the pocket without becoming overly angular. For my matched speed and rev rate, this creates a motion that starts up sooner than many symmetrical pieces while still retaining plenty of energy to drive through the pins. What impressed me immediately was how well the Alpha Crux AI handles fresh oil and heavier volume patterns. Many strong asymmetrical bowling balls can either burn up too early or become difficult to control as conditions transition. The Alpha Crux AI does an excellent job of blending the lane. It picks up in the midlane with confidence, creates a strong rolling motion, and continues through the deck with authority rather than losing energy before reaching the pocket. Technically, the AI Core technology helps create a more consistent energy transfer at impact, resulting in impressive continuation and carry. The reaction shape is strong and continuous rather than sharp and flip-oriented. That gives me the confidence to stay in the oil longer, trust the ball's motion, and make gradual adjustments as the pattern evolves throughout league or tournament play. The ball motion is particularly effective when I need control without sacrificing hook potential. I can square up on fresh conditions and gradually migrate left as transition develops, knowing the Alpha Crux AI will continue to read the lane and recover predictably. The shape is strong enough to handle volume while remaining smooth enough to avoid overreacting to friction. The pin carry has been exceptional. The ball drives relentlessly through the 8-pin area, keeps the corners low, and turns marginal hits into strikes. Even when I miss slightly into the oil, the Alpha Crux AI has enough traction to recover and continue through the pocket. That combination of forgiveness and power makes it an excellent option for medium-speed, medium-rev bowlers facing medium-heavy to heavy oil conditions. If you're a medium-speed, medium-rev one-handed player looking for a strong asymmetrical ball that provides excellent traction, a reliable midlane read, and outstanding continuation through the pins, the Storm Alpha Crux AI deserves serious consideration. It's the kind of benchmark-heavy-oil ball that inspires confidence on fresh conditions and delivers the control needed to stay competitive game after game.

Alpha!
The Alpha Crux AI is Storms newest Premier line piece. The Alpha Crux AI features the same core found the in the OG but is now wrapped in AI and finished with GI-26. The Alpha 2026 feels exactly like I’m back in 2016 drilling an Alpha for the first time. The Alpha was known for superior control across all patterns and the 2026 version feels no different. This is a must have for any tournament bowler who wants extreme control on fresh conditions. Available in any Storm VIP Pro Shop today! Review Video: https://youtu.be/6769ycqBLG4?si=cz2XSwIZHXNi_Cvw

Alpha Crux
Coverstock: GI-26 Solid - 2000 Abralon Core: Catalyst A.I. RG: 2.48 Differential: .053 PSA: .018 (15 lbs) Fragrance: Apple Fritter Layout: 5 x 5 x 2 PAP: 6" Right, 1 3/8" Up Axis Tilt: 16° Rotation: 51° Rev Rate: 450-500 Speed: 17-18 mph Location: Vista Lanes - Yorkville, NY Pattern: Kegel Carbon (Curve Conditioner) Lane Surface: Anvilane One of the most desired balls over the last decade is back! The Alpha Crux returns with an upgraded GI-26 solid cover at a 2000 Abralon finish and features the proven Catalyst core from the previous Crux series releases with the addition of the A.I. outer core. It has been designed to create a strong and predictable midlane motion with a powerful move at the breakpoint. The Alpha Crux gave me a good look sliding on 25, looking 17 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 8. The over/under at my home center can be unpredictable and the Alpha Crux did an excellent job blending it out to provide me with a more consistent reaction. When compared to the EquinoX Solid, the Alpha Crux is a couple boards stronger and creates more continuous motion. The EquinoX Solid has been great for me, but it can sometimes be too slow and forward so the Alpha Crux strength and ball motion has me excited. The Alpha Crux will be the first ball out of my bag on heavier tournament conditions. If you are a low-mid rev player that needs a little help with ball motion in league, it could also be a great choice. For anyone who loved the original Alpha Crux or never had the chance to throw it, now is your chance! Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out! Available on May 29th. The Alpha Crux!
Alpha Crux • Strom • Premier Series Coverstock • GI-26 Solid Reactive Finish • 2000-grit Abralon Core • Catalyst A.I. Core Weight • 15 lb. I was eager to see what the hype was all about. Mind you, I never rolled the original Alpha Crux, so I can’t compare the two. However, I can tell you that the new and improved Alpha Crux is a fantastic release designed to fit any straighter player’s game. The Alpha Crux has some wonderful features worth writing about. So, let’s take a closer look at what’s behind the new Alpha Crux. As a straighter player, I depend on consistent motion, a predictable turn off the pattern, and, most of all, enough power to deliver the hard-rolling continuation I need to compensate for my lack of rev rate. What I found with the Catalyst Weight block was exactly that! I loved how the Catalyst Core was smooth in the mid-lane while retaining a great deal of energy for the back end. Further, the Catalyst Core doesn’t hesitate when the Alpha Crux finds friction, so I loved being able to trust that it would stand up off the pattern with authority, regardless of how weak the shot was off my hand. And with the addition of the A.I. technology wrapped around the Catalyst Core, as a straighter player, I couldn’t ask for a harder-rolling continuation that actually left me with a few flying messengers! Yes, a straighter player with flying messengers! I would say that speaks volumes about how the Catalyst A.I. Core makes the Alpha Crux deliver! Let’s talk about the outstanding results of the GI-26 solid coverstock on the Alpha Crux. As a straighter player, I loved how the GI-26 solid is a well-balanced mixture that provides the traction I love to see, without the exhausting oil-absorbing bite that leaves me corner pins because it grips the lane so intensely! The GI-26 solid was designed for higher oil volumes, but it doesn’t burn up and get lazy like other strong solid mixtures tend to. On a fresh THS, the 2000-grit Abralon surface was ideal for a first game and produced a smooth, well-balanced motion I love to see. So, the GI-26 solid coverstock lives up to what Storm set out to do. However, as an experiment, I brought my Alpha Crux up to 400-grit Abralon to see how it would fare on a night of THS bowling. What I found was that the Alpha Crux was dynamite all night long. Because of the higher surface, I had to start further right, but because the GI-26 reads the lane so smoothly and evenly, I was able to move quite far in with the Alpha Crux and enjoy playing in areas late in game three that I don’t normally get to play. So, without a doubt, straighter players and those who are more speed-dominant THS bowlers will find the GI-26 to fit their game quite nicely. In closing, the new and improved Alpha Crux is an outstanding release from Storm. The combination of the Catalyst A.I. Core and the GI-26 coverstock makes the Alpha Crux a great choice for any straighter, low-rev player like me. Furthermore, I strongly suggest that advanced Junior bowlers, especially the girls, take a look at the Alpha Crux, as I can see it delivering consistent, predictable results for you on medium- to long-length patterns with higher oil volumes, especially when those huge asymmetric cores and heavy cover balls start burning out. So, stop into your local Storm VIP Pro Shop today and see where the Alpha Crux will fit into your arsenal. The Alpha Crux is well worth the consistency it brings! NEW ALpha CRUX
#15 Storm Alpha Crux: SPI says: A modernized version of Storm's legendary heavy-oil asymmetric benchmark with massive midlane traction and continuous motion. After drilling the Alpha Crux with a **4¼ x 3⅜ x 4** layout, I found it to be what I hoped a modern Crux would be, a strong, predictable asymmetric that blends the lane exceptionally well without feeling overly early sandwiched between my Ion Max and Equinox Solid. The New Alpha Crux is designed for today's higher-friction environments and heavier tournament conditions. Me:Senior Right-handed bowler with approximately 300 RPM and 15–15.5 mph ball speed, this layout gave me a strong midlane read while maintaining excellent continuation through the pins. The 3⅜-inch PSA-to-PAP distance helped the ball transition strongly in the midlane, while the 4-inch VAL angle kept the response smooth and controllable rather than jerky. What stood out immediately was how confidently the Alpha Crux handled oil. On fresh sport patterns and heavier house conditions, the ball picked up noticeably sooner than my Equinox Solid, yet it never felt lazy or quit downlane. Instead, it created a heavy rolling motion that kept driving through the 8 and 9 pins. For my rev rate and speed, the Alpha Crux excels when there is enough oil to keep it from reading too early. On flatter tournament patterns, especially 42–47 foot conditions, it gives me confidence because it reads the lane before the breakpoint and doesn't rely on friction to make its move. Compared to some my other SPI pieces with the same layouts: -Physix Blackout: Earlier, stronger, much more total hook -Equinox Solid: More traction and smoother backend -Ion Max Pearl: Less angular, stronger overall footprint and more control-oriented -Origin EX: Earlier and significantly stronger | The Alpha Crux feels like a true successor to the original Alpha Crux Looking forward to use at the USBC Open Champship. Alpha Crux Review
The Storm Alpha Crux makes its return and it’s bigger and better than ever! If you were a fan-favorite of the original, you’re going to love the new version. The Alpha Crux features an updated GI-26 solid cover stock, along with the returning Catalyst Core only this time, provided with AI technology. Better enhancement, better ball motion, better results! While I didn’t get the opportunity to throw the original Alpha Crux, I was very excited Storm Products decided to do a remake and updated version of it. The colors and Apple Fritter fragrance are amazing, just like the original. I decided to go with my standard layout of 70 x 5 3/8 x 40 for most asymmetrical solids I drilled. I have tested it both on a 42ft modified league pattern and Kegel’s rt 66 45ft. I was very impressed with the versatility the Alpha Crux can create. While the ball reads a little early in the oil, it has a very strong, continuous back-end motion through the pins. The more I moved my feet to the right to swing it, the more response the ball receives as it migrates through the oil. While league patterns can be tricky depending on how much oil your center uses, the Alpha Crux would be a reliable option to start with until the friction becomes too much, and the ball becomes very over/under. This ball will work well with sport patterns contested on heavier volume with more room for error. Applying power edge polish is also ideal if you want to give it a shot for medium/low volume patterns. All in all, the Alpha Crux would be a great piece to add to your arsenal. Storm has hit another home run with this release. If you are looking to add an updated asymmetrical solid in your bag, the Alpha Crux is the ball for you! Storm Alpha Crux
Storm Alpha Crux Ball Review The Alpha Crux has returned with 2026 technology The 2026 Alpha Crux uses the Catalyst core but it’s wrapped with AI technology with the new G1 26 solid coverstock. The Specs on the Alpha Crux are RG -2.48 Diff-.053 Intermediate Diff -.018 Finish -2000 Grit Abralon I drilled my alpha crux 5.25x4.5x2.5 using the Storm VLS layout system The Alpha Crux will be a great option on heavy oil that will read the midlane with a predictable continuous backend. I compared the Ion Max Pearl and Equinox Solid to the alpha crux The Alpha Crux will be my first option on heavy oil then once the lane transitions and I need more length Ion Max Pearl will compliment it perfectly The Equinox Solid will cleaner with a smooth backend so it’s not as responsive as the Alpha Crux https://youtu.be/WeCiDnRBX94?si=ymZd9ser4EU7AI2k

Alpha Crux - A.I.
This is the most anticipated release for me so far because out of all all the Crux series, I have yet to have thrown an Alpha Crux. And now, they have brought it back, with the upgraded GI-26 (Game Improvement 2026) coverstock, same Catalyst core, and updated A.I. (Amplifed Inertia) core technology! I decided to get two Alpha Cruxes: Pin down layout - 4 3/4 x 4 1/8 x 4 1/4 (50 x 4 3/4 x 70, using the vector layout) Pin up layout - 4 3/4 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/4 (55 x 4 3/4 x 35, using the vector layout) All I have to say is wow! Both of these balls did absolutely amazing for me, especially on higher volumes of oil. The pin up Alpha was great for me to dig through the oil and store energy for me in the backend, which provide that smooth controllable shape that I always like. The pin down Alpha worked great for me after a little transition from the pin up Alpha to pick up just a little earlier in the midlane and gave me a rounder shape and continuous motion through the pins. With the pin down Alpha, I was able to keep my angles closer to the pocket, which suits my game great! Great for heavier volumes of oil, smooth and predictable and absolutely amazing on the lanes. I have fun throwing these, and I know you will too! It’s available now at your local Storm VIP pro shop.
