Additional product information:

The Bionic was engineered to be the ultimate symmetrical solution, an all-encompassing option capable of handling virtually any lane condition. Its proven NRG Hybrid coverstock formulation offers exceptional versatility, easily adjustable to match a wide range of surfaces and styles. At the heart of the Bionic lies a weight block design that simply made sense. The concept stemmed from creating a symmetrical evolution of the Element Max Core found in the Ion Max. After extensive testing, we maintained the integrity of the Ion Max’s performance DNA and “revolved” it into a highly dynamic symmetrical shape. The core features the same stacked ellipse structure that broadens toward the equator, a design strategically intended to be intersected during drilling, thereby increasing differential. As with the Ion Max, core dynamics respond more distinctly across various layouts, giving pro shop operators and bowlers alike more fine-tuned control. The center-heavy mass properties of the weight block help keep the RG low, while the addition of the flip block delivers that signature Storm torque effect off the end of the pattern, an unmistakable motion unmatched in today’s market.

    Storm Bionic

Posted by Mike LeViner on Mar 29th 2026

Layout: 45 x 4 ½ x 35 The Bionic is the best little brother that the original Ion Max could ever ask for! The Bionic is a little cleaner, a little more responsive, but can still handle a good bit of oil. The 4000 box finish allows it to be used on medium to medium-heavy patterns, though if it was hit with a 1500 or 2000 pad, it could handle just about any amount of oil you could throw at it. The versatility of this ball is pretty incredible – it can somehow be described as both a really strong ball, but also as a ball that could be your benchmark. The closest ball reaction in the Storm lineup to the Bionic is certainly the Phaze 2, and that is obviously the highest praise.

    Storm Bionic

The Storm Bionic is a strong symmetrical hybrid that fits right into that benchmark slot, but with more pop than you’d expect. It features the new Torsion A.I. core paired with the NRG Hybrid cover at 4000 grit, giving it a clean look up front with a strong, continuous motion downlane. I drilled mine with my standard Symmetric layout 5x4x2. The closest comparison is the Phaze 2 — but the Bionic is a step up. It’s a touch cleaner through the fronts and noticeably stronger with more continuation through the pins. What really stands out is how it keeps hooking. A lot of hybrids tend to get forward, but the Bionic continues through the deck and lets you open your angles without getting jumpy or unpredictable. It’s best as a fresh or transition piece on medium to heavier oil and works great as a go-to benchmark. If you’ve liked balls like the Phaze II or Zen Soul, the Bionic gives you that same shape with more overall hook and better backend. Layout: 5x4x2 My Specs - Speed - 16 mph, Rev Rate - 280. Bionic is good!!!

Posted by Sandy McIntire on Mar 29th 2026

Introducing the Storm Bionic built for medium–heavy oil conditions. The Bionic is truly a benchmark ball for almost any lane conditions. The combination of the NRG Hybrid coverstock and Torsion A.I. Core creates a ball that delivers smooth, easy motion with powerful continuation and predictability. I am speed dominant, average rev rate 250-275ish, low-medium tilt and medium rotation. I drilled mine 35 x 4 1/2 x 30. My axis point is 4 3/8 over 1 3/8 up. This ball is good for me on medium oil conditions. In league I start with my Concept then change to the Bionic. These two are great one two punch for game 1 and 2. Storm Bionic review by Chris Pollentier

Storm Bionic Coverstock: NRG Hybrid Reactive Finish: 4000-grit Abralon Core: Torsion A.I. Core RG: 2.47, Diff: 0.050 (15 lbs) VLS Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 1/4 Dual Angle Layout: 45 x 4 1/2 x 35 PAP: 5 3/16” right x 5/8” up Rev rate: 400 rpm Average speed: 16.5 mph Location: Prairie Lanes, Sun Prairie WI Pattern: Medium volume THS The new Storm Bionic was designed to be a modern benchmark symmetric ball – meant to be the first ball out of your bag, but also capable of handling virtually any lane condition. The next evolution of the Ion series, the Bionic features the Torsion A.I. core which is essentially a symmetric version of the core from the Ion Max. Combined with the NRG Hybrid cover that provides balanced traction and a consistent backend response, the Bionic is designed to deliver predictable, versatile performance. I drilled my Bionic with my go-to “benchmark” drilling that allows for the characteristics of the ball to take over. To no surprise, the Bionic has been exactly what I’m looking in a strong, benchmark-type ball. It provides a smooth, readable shape in the midlane and a strong but controllable backend motion that has a noticeable pop off the spot but is by no means skip/flip. To me it almost feels like a modern-day Phaze II. The Bionic has immediately become a go-to ball that I can start with and keep throwing for multiple games because how versatile it is. It slots right in between the Ion Max and Ion Pro Solid in my bag. There’s a reason why it has won so much on the PBA Tour already! Chris Pollentier Storm Products Pro Shop Staff

    Bionic

Posted by Todd Benner on Mar 27th 2026

The new Storm Bionic combines the NRG Hybrid coverstock previously found on the Physix and All Road, and the Torsion A.I. core. At 15 pounds the Bionic has a low RG of 2.47 and a differential of .050. I drilled my Bionic 5x5x2 which puts the pin above my bridge. The Bionic takes the control of the Ion Pro solid and the strength of the Ion Max and combines them into one fantastic ball reaction. The Bionic gets revved up quickly and still provides a strong continuous backend motion. This ball is very versatile and can be used with straighter angles on heavier oil conditions. The Bionic also reacts well on medium conditions where you need to open your angles and throw it away from the pocket. The low RG and NRG coverstock makes sure that this ball never misses the spot. The A.I. core provides tremendous pin action. This is a ball that should be in every bowler’s bag. Based on the instant success this ball has had on the PBA Tour, I have a feeling this ball will be in the Storm line for a long time.

Storm Bionic Ball Review by PJ Haggerty

Posted by PJ Haggerty on Mar 26th 2026

The Storm Bionic is the newest addition to the Master Line. If you’ve watched the PBA shows this season, you’ve seen it strike a ton on TV, and that’ s been the same story for me as well. With an RG of 2.47 and differential of .050, those numbers tell us this ball wants to flare early and often. The differential is on the higher side which tells us the ball wants to plow through the pins with intention. The coverstock is Hybrid, which allows players to be able to use it on multiple types of patterns. I’ve drilled one so far and really like it. It’s mapped out as 5 x 4 x 2. This puts the pin above my bridge with a slight shift of the CG. I also put a bit of Storm polish on it since the surface I bowl on at home is older and tends to hook a lot. I’ve had the most success with it after my Vengeance and Ion Max Pearl have done their jobs. When I’ve been able to create angle with it and shape it right-to-left, it’s never missed “the spot” and continues extremely well. If you need a ball that is usable on a ton of different patterns and surfaces, and adjusts to different surfaces (shiny, dull) well, you should dill the new Bionic from Storm. #StormNation

Storm Bionic Review by Casey Murphy

Posted by Casey Murphy on Mar 25th 2026

Orientation: Right Handed Rev Rate: 400 RPM Speed: 16-17 MPH PAP: 4 1/8 over and 1 up Location: Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO Pattern: High Volume THS VLS Layout: Layout 1: 4 3/8 x 4 x 2 ½ (Pin above bridge) Layout 2: 4 x 4 x 3 7/8 (pin below bridge) Strength Rating (out of 10) : 8 Shape: Medium Sharp Best Use: Medium/Heavy oil The Bionic is one of the best symmetricals Storm has released ever. The Phaze 2 Pearl was very good, but the Bionic might even be better! The Bionic picks up plenty in the fronts and continues like crazy through the deck. Most hybrids tend to get forward and stop but the Bionic runs the 8 pin over on repeat. It’s a consistent versatile motion that you can use on a variety of conditions. I have it a touch cleaner than the Phaze 2 OG and a touch Smoother than the Phaze 2 Pearl. It slots perfectly between!

    Storm Bionic

Posted by Chase Valenzuela on Mar 25th 2026

Bionic is the newest iteration of the Element core shape found in the Ion series. This symmetrical Torsion A.I. core really sets itself apart from other upper mid symmetricals in the lineup in terms of hook shape. Familiar to the Ion Max, this ball just. keeps. hooking. I feel like I can get it back from anywhere, but at the same time it's never too jumpy or unpredictable. The NRG Hybrid cover, featured on the Physix and All Road (two of my favorites), goes hand-in-hand with the Torsion A.I. core to produce a uniquely consistent, punchy, continuous hook shape that really compliments my other go-to symmetricals like the RockStar and Phaze 2 Pearl. This has been the first ball out of my bag more and more; you do not want to miss out on this unique piece from SPI! -Chase Valenzuela

    Bionic Review

Ball Specs: Storm Bionic NRG Hybrid Reactive A.I. Symmetric Core Finish 4000 Grit Layout 4 x4 with 2” Pin Buffer Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5” Over 1/2 up Rev Rate 300. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: The Bionic is a great new addition to the Storm line of balls. I feel I can recommend this ball to almost anyone and they will have success. The Bionic is a strong benchmark ball from what I am seeing and is useful on multiple conditions. I would describe mine as an original Phase 2 with a bit more hook and better backend. I have played around with the cover by adding polish and the change was less than I expected, probably because of the 4K box finish but I did get more length and backend. I then sanded the Bionic to 1000 / 2000 Abralon and I think that worked best for me. The ball was earlier, smoother and provided a bit more hook on our tighter house shot. The ball rolls and hits very good. I think the A.I. core is noticeable in this ball related to pin carry. I may ruffle some feathers, but this ball may replace my Phase 2 in my personal bag. The Bionic is already a great selling ball and has been winning on tour. The colors are also very appealing. I would put this ball below my Equinox Solid but above my HyRoad in total hook. Summary: The Bionic has a strong benchmark shape. The Balls is very user friendly. The Bionic could give the Phase 2 a challenge for fan favorite. BIONIC BY RGR

Posted by Roto Grip Rick on Mar 21st 2026

Storm BIONIC Ball specs: All new Torsion A.I. core wrapped in NRG hybrid coverstock with surface finish at 4000 grit. Layout: 4 x 4 x 1. My Specs: Rev rate 420’s, ball speed 15.3 to 15.8 mph off the hand, axis tilt of 16 degrees and axis rotation of 70 degrees, PAP is 3 13/16th up 1/8th. Here is what’s up with the all new Storm Bionic for me: The all new Torsion A.I. core was to produce a smooth and controllable arc and the NRG hybrid cover provides balanced traction and takes surface adjustments very easily. The BIONIC is the next level to the already well received ION series. For me, the BIONIC is the most versatile and reliable ball I have used in many seasons, probably since the Roto Grip Hyped Hybrid that I used at so many leagues and tournaments a few years ago, and still have one drilled that is in my tournament arsenal. In all three centers I have used the BIONIC , which all have different lane surfaces, like Pro-Lane, HPL, and SPL, the ball has been nothing but awesome. In the centers that have HPL and Pro-Lanes, the back ends are cleaner and more crisp, I can open up the angles at the breakpoints and allow a little swing in the shot making, creating a stronger arc path into the pocket, which leads to better pin carry and better scores! On the center with SPL, the backends tend to be not as clean and with less friction on the panels, I can square up and tighten the shot making line and still have a strong entry into the pocket. Another wonderful item for noting is that I have been able to stay in the BIONIC most of the league nights, if not the whole night. My RockStar is still my #1 BALL since last year because of how strong and reliable it is, but the BIONIC is now the #2 BALL in my league bags, which now consist of: RockStar, BIONIC, Vengeance, Ion MAX Pearl, Gremlin, and Gremlin Tour-X.
