Ion Pro Solid
Drilled my Ion Pro Solid (4 x 4 x 2). Medium Rev rate and medium speed bowler. The Ion Pro Solid is silky smooth through the front part of the lane storing energy to make a controlled strong movement coming off the end of the pattern crushing the pins as the Ion Pro Solid drives through the pin deck. The Ion Pro Solid will be a great first game ball on a medium oil pattern. #stormnation #SquadRG #strikingworldwide

Ion Pro Solid!
The Ion Pro Solid is Storms newest premier line release. The Ion Pro Solid builds on the Ion Pro and Ion Max. The Ion Pro is a slightly cleaner and more forward off the end of the pattern whereas the Ion Pro Solid offers more shape overall. The Ion Pro Solid is the cleanest and fastest of all the Ions. The Ion Pro Solid is now available for purchase from any Storm VIP Pro Shop! Review Video: https://youtu.be/CEyFI2G3QRg?si=YwHy3LMS6-ThBd7G

Ion Pro Solid
Getting my hands on the new Storm ION Pro Solid has been a game-changer, especially when comparing it to its siblings, the original ION Pro and the ION Max. The ION Pro Solid truly delivers on the promise of a continuous, asymmetric benchmark shape. Where the original ION Pro (with its hybrid cover) provided a smooth, controllable mid-lane read and a predictable backend, the new Solid version definitely offers more pronounced traction and an earlier, more consistent roll through the mid-lane. It feels like it digs into the oil just a touch sooner, giving me a more reliable breakpoint on fresh conditions or when I need to play a bit straighter. While the Max is my go-to on heavy oil conditions, the ION Pro Solid provides a more controlled and continuous motion than the Max, making it far more versatile for typical league patterns or transitioning conditions where the Max might be too much. It's the kind of ball you can trust to get into a roll and maintain energy through the pins without over-reacting, a true benchmark piece that strengthens the Ion line beautifully.

Smells Great Hits Great
The Ion Pro Solid is a great addition to the Ion series especially with the Power Edge. It really gets down the lane and has a great backend reaction. I used the ball in a center where the back ends tend to have a lot more friction. I was able to keep the ball right around second arrow where there is usually a good amount of volume and it had no issue recovering. One other nice thing I noticed where I had limits moving in with the Ion Max was the ball held a lot more energy with the help of the Power Edge. It reminds me of how I was able to move with the Ion Pro but it just gets a bit further down the lane.

Storm Ion Pro Solid – WWRD 6/20/2025
Cover: TX-16 Solid Reactive Core: Element Tour A.I. Core RG: 2.47 RG. Diff.: 0.035 Finish: Power Edge Fragrance: Blueberry Donut Storm’s new Ion Pro Solid is a Solid Asymmetrical piece that is good for Medium-Heavy Volume Patterns. Same Cover as the Phaze II but different Core. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers, CG kicked out 1” from the palm, and 1” Left of the Mass Bias. I threw this piece on a Fresh house pattern. Out of Box ball motion started in the mids with a Strong backend reaction through the pins. I compared this to Ion Pro (Hybrid). Ion Pro was smoother through the fronts with a sharper backend motion than the Ion Pro Solid. This piece will be good for all types of styles. Whether you choose to keep it shiny for added length or scuff it for an earlier read, the Ion Pro Solid adapts well to various lane conditions and play styles.

Storm ION Pro Solid Review
The new ION Pro Solid features the TX-16 Solid Reactive cover, Element Tour A.I. Core and comes with Power Edge finish. This is the newest ball in the ION line. This is a solid cover stock but is polished with Power Edge. There is a new craze going on, it appears, with polishing solid balls here recently. I will be the first to admit that I was not happy with the power edge on it. I wanted a solid ball at 2k with this core and guess what I did? Yep! I hit mine with 500/2000 to take the polish off it and let me tell you it is exactly what I was hoping for. It is cleaner through the fronts with a little pop down lane but is not too crazy. It is more of a control snap if that is how you want to look at it. I was not a huge fan of the original, just a bit too clean for me but this one is money. It is going to be a cleaner Phaze2 or Rockstar with a bit more pop down lane. Storm has put out some bangers this year and you can add the ION Pro Solid to that list. The ball is amazing and going to fit all styles! Ball review link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZfRbKzY3k8&t=147s Tobias Myers #Stormnation

Solid INDEED
Pattern: 43’ House Shot Layout: 80 x 4 1/4 x 40 Finish: Box (Power Edge) The Ion Pro Solid is the newest release of the successful Ion line from Storm. The Ion Pro Solid features the beloved Eclipse asymmetrical core found in the original Ion Pro (hybrid) wrapped in A.I. Core technology. The TX 16 solid cover is a fan favorite cover that is also seen on one of the most popular Storm releases in the Phaze II. Combining all of that with the new finishing product, Power Edge, the Ion Pro Solid gives an updated shape to the already reliable overall movement seen in previous balls in the Ion line. When I threw this on my THS, I was able to go far enough right without it responding too early and was able to move all the way left without it losing all of its energy. This ball can definitely be used on a lot of different conditions and allow the bowler to get away with some miss room. If you are looking for something strong, that doesn’t lose energy too quick, this may be the ball for you! Trevor Kopas Storm Staff Ambassador Pro Shop Operator #Bigboybowling

Ion Pro Solid
I was a little reluctant to drill the Ion Pro Solid because the original Ion Pro didn’t roll well for me. As a one hander with 400 rev rate and medium speed, the original was clean because of the pearl in the hybrid cover and the low dif made it feel like it didn’t have continuation downlane. Basically the original was quick at the break, then forward. I love the Ion Max, so I gave the Ion Pro Solid a shot. Conclusion the Ion Pro Solid was much improved for me compared to the original. Simply by putting the solid version of the TX-16 cover (same as the Phaze II) on the same Element Tour with AI core that’s in the Ion Pro, it blended out the ball motion (making it slower and more rounded). That solid cover reads the lane earlier even with the Power Edge polish out of the box. The 2.47 RG also contributes to the ball not over skidding. Despite the low 0.035 Dif and 0.014 PSA numbers, that solid cover also keeps the ball continuing on the back end. On a house pattern, I was able to get into the oil, open up the front and it still read the lane. Then I knocked the shine off with an old 1000 pad and threw it on Shark. That TX-16 solid cover definitely was strong enough to still read the lane. Again the pleasantly surprising thing was the continuous back end I saw, even on that longer pattern. I’d say it's an updated version of Phaze II with a little asymmetry. So if you are looking for a ball between the big asyms (Ion Max, RST Hyperdrive, Origin) and the middle of the bag (Rockstar, Zen25, Summit Ascent), the Ion Pro Solid is a good choice. I drilled mine pin up 2.5 buffer, 4 ½ from my PAP with PSA 4.

Ion Pro Solid
Storm Ion Pro Solid - Premier Line Coverstock: TX-16 Solid - Power Edge Core: Element Tour A.I. RG: 2.47 Differential: .035 PSA: .014 (15 lbs) Fragrance: Blueberry Donut Layout: 5 x 5 x 3 PAP: 6" Right, 1 3/8" Up Axis Tilt: 16° Rotation: 51° Rev Rate: 450-500 Speed: 17-18 mph Location: Vista Lanes - Yorkville, NY Pattern: Kegel Carbon Lane Surface: HPL The Ion Pro Solid builds off the success of the Ion Pro Hybrid and creates another shape in the Ion series. It features the proven TX-16 solid cover that was made famous by the Phaze II, polished with Power Edge and is paired with the Element Tour A.I. asymmetric core. This cover/core combination will produce a predictable reaction that clears the fronts and maintains energy for a strong continuous backend motion. The Ion Pro Solid gave me a great look sliding on 30, looking 18 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 7-8. If I wanted to play straighter I could get softer with my hand and stay more up the back of the ball. As I moved left, my ball reaction continued to look good with more tilt and slower ball speed. The Ion Pro Solid is cleaner than both the Ion Max and Ion Pro Hybrid, while fitting between the two when it comes to overall hook potential. The Ion Pro Hybrid has been one of my favorites and the Ion Pro Solid will be an excellent compliment to it because it is 3-4 boards stronger and creates a quicker downlane reaction. I can see the Ion Pro Solid being a great ball for league and medium challenge patterns or the ball that I go to after a sanded solid asymmetric like the Ion Max starts to burn up. I’m excited to put the Ion Pro Solid to the test in league and tournaments. Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out! Available on June 20th.
