    Hustle VP Review

Posted by Adam Chase on Jul 22nd 2026

Layout: 4 x 4 x 1 1/2 Surface: Power Edge Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The Hustle series is back with the new VP Pearl! The proven Hustle core is back with the VTC Pearl Coverstock finished with Power Edge. The Power Edge finish gives that length that new bowlers and competitive bowlers are looking for on medium to lighter oil. On my typical house condition, I saw very clean in the front, a good amount of length and a smoother backend for this pearl Hustle. The White/Orange colors usually add to smoother ball motion. I see this here with this Hustle Pearl. Smoother than the previous pearl versions but still with the same proven performance. Removing the Power Edge will allow it to be used more on the fresh and keeping the box finish will be for more length and backend. Compared to the Hustle SOS, I saw about 4 boards of less total hook and about 2 more feet of length. Although still smoother, it angles a little harder than the SOS. If you are looking for a more skid Hustle, I would look for previous versions especially the Hustle Wine. Adam Chase Storm Staff

    Hustle VP

The new Roto Grip Hustle VP is everything you'd want from the Hustle line—clean through the front, easy to control, and surprisingly strong off the spot. It clears the heads with ease, reads the midlane without overreacting, and gives me a smooth, predictable motion that keeps me in play when the lanes start to transition. Whether I'm bowling league or tournaments, it's a ball I can trust to blend out the pattern while still carrying the corners. It's quickly become one of the first balls I reach for when I need consistency.

    Hustle VP

The Hustle VP features the VTC (Versatile Traction Control) pearl coverstock. The layout on this is 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 x 2 1/4. Provides me length and a controllable motion for a weaker core and coverstock, and it’s not sideways off the spot. Definitely a ball to go down to from the Hustle SOS, and the dreamsicle color looks amazing going down the lane. Definitely a great ball to have a such a very low price point. Hustle VP

Posted by Chase Valenzuela on Jul 20th 2026

Hustle VP is the newest pearl Hustle colorway! The Hustle line is legendary for providing a tour-shape in a slightly weaker package at a great price point. VP continues that legacy. This is the perfect ball for that last game of league after you've beaten the lanes up with that big solid, or for travel league when you bowl at that one center in town that still has wood lanes or doesn't put out more than 20 mLs. The Hustle line has been a secret weapon for friction, and a way to play straighter on short or flat conditions. The VP continues the trend of Hustle's outperforming their price point, offering a great ball for beginners, and a great bottom-of-the-bag option for high level players. Hustle VP is a must-have! -Chase Valenzuela

Talk about a big bang for your buck $$. This ball rolls really good on the average house shot. This might be league ball of the year. And the color wave is pretty great too. I definitely recommend this one to anyone wanting a controllable ball to have in your league bag. Eye turning colors with amazing results for a great price. What more do you want?

This ball may be in the lower price point, but it definitely doesn't give you lower performance! For me, the Hustle VP is clean through the fronts and gives me a smooth, controllable motion down lane without going crazy off the spot.

Like its newly released brother, the Hustle SOS, the Hustle VP features an exciting, proven core and energetic coverstock combination that keeps the Hustle line among the best level-one balls on the market! The Hustle VP is not only vibrant thanks to its new VTC Pearl coverstock, but the excellent combination of the Hustle Core and VTC Pearl coverstock also makes it a wonderful ball for nearly any bowler to add to their arsenal. So, let’s take a closer look at where the dynamic Hustle VP belongs in your arsenal. The Hustle Core is a proven staple that has earned the respect of the bowling industry. Its balanced shape and medium RG and Diff specifications make any Hustle a predictable, smooth-rolling ball. What I like about the Hustle Core is that, as a straighter player who tends to miss right, it creates a motion that gives me plenty of recovery room without being too aggressive on the back end. Because it rolls smoothly and remains balanced, I can depend on the Hustle Core to retain a good amount of energy, helping me save those softer hits that normally leave corner pins. Lastly, as a straighter, low-rev player, I can rely on the Hustle Core in any lane condition to provide a predictable motion that pulls me out of trouble. The VTC (Versatile Traction Control) Pearl coverstock is not only vibrant in color but also makes the Hustle VP a dynamic powerhouse for any bowler’s arsenal. The VTC Pearl is clean through the front of the lane and provides crisp traction in the mid-lane. That “crisp” traction allows the Hustle VP to get down the lane with authority and gives it a good amount of punch as it enters the pocket! I found the VTC Pearl to be pretty stable off the pattern in fresh THS conditions, but I did find the VTC can get a bit jumpy off the spot when the conditions start to break down. However, with my older classic down-and-in approach, a light surface tweak to 4000-grit Abralon gave my Hustle VP a very predictable and stable motion off the pattern in late-night conditions. So, if you’re an advanced bowler, I suggest that when you consider where you want to use the Hustle VP, you tweak your surface accordingly, as this will provide you with the best possible success for your game. In closing, the Roto Grip Hustle VP is a great combination of the Hustle Core and VTC Pearl coverstock, bringing success to bowlers at any level or style. New bowlers will love the smooth motion and vibrant look the Hustle VP brings to their game, and seasoned bowlers will appreciate how it delivers the smooth, predictable motion they can depend on to keep them striking as the competition goes on. So, stop in at your local Strom VIP Pro Shop today and see where the Hustle VP will fit in your arsenal! The Hustle VP is far beyond an entry-level bowling ball; it is a vibrant workhorse that will elevate any bowler’s game, making it a great choice! VP by RGR

Roto Grip Hustle VP Ball Specs: Hustle core wrapped in VTC - Versatile Traction Control pearl reactive coverstock and the surface is finished from Storm with Power Edge Layout: 3 x 6 x 4. My Specs: Rev rate 420’s, ball speed 15.3 to 15.8 mph off the hand, axis tilt of 16 degrees and axis rotation of 70 degrees, PAP is 3 13/16th up 1/8th. Tested on Pro-lane and HPL lane surfaces on a 43ft medium volume house pattern and 44ft heavier volume house pattern. The next releases in the VERY POPULAR Hustle line have hit the lanes for the upcoming bowling season. The VP is the latest pearl reactive coverstock version to hit the market replacing the GLOW from last year. I approached Earl Burger at ABC North Lanes Pro Shop to give me something unique in layout that he has not done in the past for me to give me a different roll and shape I normally don’t use and help me get out of my comfort zone and learn new looks and shapes of ball motion. Earl came up with a layout of 3 x 6 x 4 which puts the pin on the left center of my grip below the ring finger and puts the CG about an inch left of my thumb. It reminds me of the RICO drilling from the 90’s and early 2000’s I have seen.I wanted smooth with a little POP in the backend, and that is what I got with the ball and layout combo. I will say this ball is incredible on fresh THS on Pro Lane surface but once the carrydown starts, it's not strong enough to get through the carry down as I was expecting. At Colony Park Lanes I actually used it from the start to finish even after 5 games on the same pair, the ball had a consistent and even reaction. It does like friction but it manages the friction. Heavy carry down is not his friend. I love going straighter at Colony Park because of the topography the lane panels have, especially the lower part of the center where everyone’s balls bounce in the front panels. The VP fills a spot I did not realize I needed, but now glad I do have in my travel and short pattern tournament bags. Stop in at your local PSO to see what the new Hustles are all about. I believe you will be quite surprised by the performance of the Hustle line of balls. Hustle VP Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson

Posted by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson on Jul 7th 2026

Roto Grip Hustle VP Cover: VTC™ Pearl Reactive with Power Edge Core: Hustle™ (Symmetrical) Color: Vanilla/Popsicle Review: There is NO reason to not love this line of bowling balls. They cater to literally every bowler in the world, regardless of skill level and is priced so reasonably that its worth its weight in gold. Our style: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 5x4x2 (pin is above bridge). For the seasoned veterans you can expect an extremely versatile lower end pearl, something to keep transition to late in a block if you are needing to move right (even if the conditions are drying up). For the novice bowler you can expect great value in your purchase, getting a great piece of equipment for pennies over an entry level reactive bowling ball. The color options also appeal to novice bowlers who may care more about color than performance. The trusted Hustle core is in many bowling record books for a reason, it’s just that good. This ball has major shelf appeal and will look great in your bag!
