Additional product information:

Defender Hybrid was the first Brunswick ball featuring the groundbreaking new coverstock base, HK22. The motion was more hook in oil and more backend for a shiny ball than had ever been seen in the Brunswick line. HK22 balls have evolved significantly over the last year and a half. We’re excited to continue the evolution of the innovative cover base with the Ultimate Defender. This ball produces exceptional hook in the oil and impressive continuation on the backend because of the clean and strong nature of the cover despite the dull surface. The Ultimate Defender will be your ultimate choice when combating oily conditions. Compared to the Mindset, the Ultimate Defender will be cleaner and sharper while still handling the oil conditions.

    Ultimate Defender

The Brunswick Ultimate Defender is a versatile ball which provides a defined continuous motion ideal for controlling reaction. Given the hybrid cover and hk22, it gets thru the front part of the late nicely at the OOB finish of 2000. The reaction is more of a hard arc overall. I see this ball excelling when going up the boards (straighter angles); on sport type patterns within the medium (41') to long (45') distance. Ideal for patterns where control is needed.

    Ultimate Defender

The Brunswick Ultimate Defender is much more controllable than the OG Defender Hybrid! However, this ball is exactly what the Defender series needed. This ball takes surface perfectly and lane shines to a point where you get the ball motion of the OG. This is a great 1-2 punch with Ultimate Defender to start and eventually transition to the OG Defender Hybrid if you need that extra ball!! ??… why buy one, when you get two great balls!

    Strong!

Out of the box it was a too early and didn't do much on the backend, but once polish was added, it became a whole new ball!! Looks great on the fresh, able to play multiple angles and doesn't even think about leaving a corner pin. Really starting to love it and is a staple in my bag.

    Love this Defender

800 out of the box with this ball. The Ultimate Defender will be the first ball out of my bag on medium to heavy patterns. With the same core as the original Defender and a hybrid HK22 cover at 2000, I can get this ball into a roll early and still hook on the backend.

    Multiple Pattern Use

Posted by Jim M. on Mar 22nd 2024

Out of the box this ball looked like it was blending the pattern. On a fresh house pattern it may have been too much for the early outside friction but worked well staying to the inside in the oil. The next week after adding some polish, this ball could be a must have in the bag. It is working so well in the oil, in the friction and not having issues with corner pins. This will increase the power in your bag.

    Responsive Oil Ball

Posted by CGarrett on Mar 17th 2024

The Ultimate Defender is a very strong ball. It is a combination of the best parts of the previous two Defender series releases. This one is earlier than the Defender Solid but later than the Defender Hybrid. I find this ball to cover more boards than both. It slots in between the Perfect Mindset and the Mindset in the current lineup. This one is more responsive down the lane than both of those balls with a fairly quick move at the breakpoint. Out of the box it needs Oil. It worked best for me with a smoother surface. I decided to leave it at 4000 grit so that I could use it more during league play. Overall, the Defender Hybrid is a great responsive option on oilier lanes.

    Ultimate Defender

Ball: Brunswick Ultimate Defender Coverstock: HK22 A.C.T. 3.0 Hybrid Core: Portal X Factory Finish: 500, 2000 Layout: 50 x 5 x 15 The Ultimate Defender is proving to be the logical step down from the Brunswick Mindset, which sits at the very top of my Brunswick bag. The Defender has a similar overall hook potential to the Mindset but provides more continuation. Even though the surface is on the dull side, the cover still provides quite a bit of backend. The most impressive characteristic of the Defender is its versatility. I have used it on more of a typical house pattern, a heavier volume house pattern, and a shorter challenge type pattern with success. I view the Ultimate Defender as the Ultimate matchup ball for a variety of styles. If you are rev challenged, it is strong enough to help out. If you struggle throwing high end balls due to rev rate or slow ball speed, it has a perfect blend of control while still having length and backend. Chris Freeland Average Rev Rate 400 Average Speed 18 mph PAP: 4 1/8 over 3/4 up

    Brunswick Ultimate Defender

The Brunswick Ultimate Defender has nice roll shape & continuation. You want to avoid getting too deep on the lane. If you have to get to 4th or 5th arrow, I think there are better options for getting up the hill and kicking corners. The dull surface picks up in the oil nicely. Keep your angles in front of you and this ball will shine.

    Ultimate!!!

Whew! Ultimate Defender for the win! 60x4x20, base layout, and I can do whatever I need to do with it. Avg 241 out of box so far, three different leagues, three different patterns and three different houses. Really looking to test this ball at state and have it in the bag for nationals. Earlier than the previous defenders for me, and love the pink going down the lane. You can definitely see when this ball wants to turn over! Great Job Brunswick!

    Ultimate Defender

The ball that started it all with HK22. With in updated cover base this ball is cleaner and sharper then the popular Brunswick Mindset while still handling the oil conditions. Even with the dull finish this ball produces great hook and continuation in the oil because of the nature of the cover. Go out there and defend what’s yours
