Additional product information:

The Top Thrill line from MOTIV is developed for premium performance on dry lanes. The latest additions to the line are the Top Thrill Solid and Hybrid. These two balls were developed for world class performance on dry lanes. While others develop “entry level” bowling balls, MOTIV focuses on premium performance for the varied environments a competitive bowler is likely to encounter. The Halogen V2 core returns for these two Top Thrills as it is perfect for performance in light oil. It combines a slow-spinning high RG core for easy length and a lower differential to provide 2-3 inches of track flare potential. The moderately low differential allows for a clear progression within the MOTIV product line, stepping down from balls intended for medium-dry lanes.

The Flux™ core in the original Thrill™ is replaced in the Top Thrill™ with a modified Halogen™ core previously found in higher performance Motiv® bowling balls.  The new Halogen™ V2 has a slightly higher RG than the original with a lower differential.  The Halogen™ V2 is uniquely suited for dry lanes, but with a strong enough core to allow for more angles of play and significantly more versatility in drilling options.

The Top Thrill Hybrid utilizes Turmoil XP2 Hybrid coverstock, which a higher performance option than the original Turmoil XP used previously in the Top Thrill line. As a result, bowlers will see more traction in the mid lane with greater down lane motion.

When To Use:

Speed Dominant Bowlers - Speed dominant players will likely use the Top Thrill line when the lanes are very dry or on shorter oil patterns when urethane balls are not an option.  The Top Thrill Hybrid will be most useful when more down lane motion is needed, while the Top Thrill Solid is ideal on shorter patterns.

Balanced Bowlers - For balanced bowlers, dry lanes and at the end of long blocks of competition are ideal for the Top Thrill line.  Balanced bowlers competing on a second shift or in tournaments with longer formats will find great use for the Top Thrills.  Often, balanced bowlers find themselves lost after urethane has transitioned lanes.  In those cases, the Top Thrill Solid allows for straighter angles is a great solution.  When the patterns are longer and bowlers want to create more angle, the Top Thrill Hybrid should be used.

Rev Dominant Bowlers - For rev dominant bowlers, the Top Thrills are a must in the bag.  The Top Thrill solid is a great option for lower volume fresh patterns where straighter angles are in play and other balls are just too strong for the angles in play.  The Top Thrill Hybrid is an outstanding burn ball for rev dominant bowlers.  While the solid is better on light oil from shallow angles, at the end of the block, the Top Thrill Hybrid will be useful from steep angles.

More than you think it will be

Core: Halogen V2 Type: Symmetric Coverstock: Turmoil XP2 Hybrid Box Finish: 5500 Grit LSP Video: https://youtu.be/-iG29OeVOPA?si=I8oAFsyj7ICcU50m Layout: 50 x 4 1/4 x 55 Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF) What I was looking for was a ball for a low volume high friction surface that allowed me to play the track with little to no adjustments during a league night. What I got, just what I wanted. Top Thrill Hybrid allows me to play the same line and it blends the carry down very well giving me the shape I need to see in order to play my “A” game. You need something that is going to read your line and ignore the trash that is tracked across your line by others; the Top Thrill Hybrid does that very well. This is one example of what I have seen with it throwing it in three leagues and one doubles shootout this week and I got the ball Wednesday. After noon league Thursday 6th frame 2nd game grabbed the Top Thrill Hybrid, only the second time I've thrown it, sheet (7 in a row) kept it for the 3rd game 9 of 12 strikes. There was no over under the Top Thrill Hybrid followed my line ignored everything to the break point and then made that ever so gentle turn to the 1 3 pocket and off the deck between the 8 9. The balls only problem is the operator’s execution. Shameless plug: Two of the three leagues I bowl with the same person on my team this year we dropped her down to 12 lbs and put her in the Top Thrill Pearl (Blue/Green), her left side spare ball is a Primal Shock (due to its ability to walk across the whole lane). I’m trying to put her in the Top Thrill Hybrid because when her down and in shot keeps going Brooklyn she struggles (72 years old) not comfortable moving left and is a low speed player. The whole story: I am/was a fan of the original Thrill (Pink/Yellow) Pearl and when it was discontinued I got a Top Thrill (Purple/Red) due to a change in ball weight after an injury. I was never a good match for the Top Thrill Pearl or at least that is what I thought. I laid it out the exact same way as my original Thrill (45 X 3 ½ X 25) and it was way to responsive (who says that about a bowling ball) for what I needed. So the Top Thrill has sat in my shop collecting dust until this week. Enter the Top Thrill Hybrid and the Top Thrill Solid. What I was looking for was a ball for a low volume high friction surface that allowed me to play the track with little to no adjustments during a league night. What I got, just what I wanted. I had the Top Thrill Hybrid drilled with the layout at the top as a step down from the Top Thrill Solid (50 X 4 ¾ X 45). As the night goes on and the Solid starts with the over under reaction due to carry down I find grabbing the Top Thrill Hybrid allows me to play the same line and it blends the carry down very well giving me the shape I need to see in order to play my “A” game. 98% of the bowlers in the leagues I bowl in are right handed and the majority of them are down and in bowlers playing anywhere from 10 board out with a break point at 7 or 8 (house track). Then you have the high rev high speed guys (money leagues) that hook the whole lane pushing oil into that track to hit the same break point. Over under is a real thing when there is oil (Thursday night they forgot to oil the pair of lanes I was on after the afternoon league). You need something that is going to read your line and ignore the trash that is tracked across your line by others; the Top Thrill Hybrid does that very well. How do I know, this past Thursday afternoon I was bowling in a league the Top Thrill Solid was serving me well but corner pin city, due to over under. 4 of the 8 people were throwing 12 to 7 at the arrows and two of those were throwing plastic. 6th frame 2nd game grabbed the Top Thrill Hybrid, only the second time I had thrown the ball, sheet (7 in a row) kept it for the 3rd game 9 of 12 strikes. There was no over under the Top Thrill Hybrid followed my line ignored everything to the break point and then made that ever so gentle turn to the 1 3 pocket and off the deck between the 8 9. The misses game three were operator error to far out but it tried to come back and pulled one really bad and it was runaway Brooklyn leaving multiple pins to the right standing. One can imagine that this will be the ball you need in your bag if you play on a burn of any kind and it will allow you to map what is out there. So when everyone else is lofting left gutter cap you will be the one still just sliding up to your spot and hitting the track. If you are a righty playing the burn you will learn what it means to be a lefty on fresh (sorry lefties, I couldn’t resist).

    Top Thrill Hybrid

    K. Matthew Byrd (Motiv Staffer) Hand: Right-Handed Ball Weight: 15 lbs. Rev Rate: 500 RPM Ball Speed: 18 Mph Tilt: 10 Rotation: 45 PAP: 5.125” over and .125” up Layout: 45 x 5 5/8 x 40 (Dual Angle) The new Top Thrill Hybrid is not your ordinary entry level or lower end bowling ball. The Top Thrill Hybrid allows me to play in a completely different zone than I usually play. The Hybrid glides down the lane and gives a smooth overall motion. I can play closer to the gutter and stay on top of the drier boards. The Top Thrill Hybrid is my new House Shot destroyer.

Much stronger reaction than the pearl version. Just stronger than expected.
