Additional product information:

Sometimes it's just better to let the R&D Team play around with various core and cover combinations and let them see what kind of chaos and havoc they can create. Such was the case with our latest addition to the HP3 Line known as the GREMLIN.

For starters, the R&D creatures found that when they "maxed out" the densities of both the block and the slug, the RG Value and DIFF Value both increased, while the mild asymmetric split lowered just a little, thus creating a cleaner and more angular motion down lane than we had ever seen before from this shape.

And of course they couldn't stop there. They then decided that in order to create a truly mischievous motion, they needed to develop a cleaner, more Versatile and more Responsive pearlized coverstock material, better known as V-R1™ (Versatile-Response - 1st version) to provide a new level of skid and snap that every bowling creature will come to appreciate.

    Gremlin Review

Posted by Thomas Coco on Jul 27th 2025

The Gremlin is Roto Grip’s newest addition to the HP3 line. This asymmetrical pearl reactive is featured with the Rondure MaxD core, along with the new V-R1 Pearl Cover stock, resulting in a clean, skid/flip motion bowlers would love to have in their bag. In my opinion, this ball would be an upgrade to the UC2, only stronger. Ball layout: 70 x 5 3/8 x 40. I was quite impressed with the ball motion the Gremlin can create. Goes through the front part of the lanes with ease, very clean, strong backend motion with some skid/flip shenanigans. This can be a great transitional ball once friction starts to show on the lanes and bowlers start moving right/left with their target/feet respectively. First ball out of the bag can also be an option if you are attacking a medium/short oil pattern, where the Gremlin can tend to read early enough and control the mid lane roll, saving its energy for backend motion. If I had to define where this ball would fit in my bag, it’d be right in between my big core ball (Hyperdrive), and benchmark ball (Optimum Idol Solid/Rockstar). The Gremlin is one versatile ball you should consider having in your bag. It’s a mischief made to strike!! Be sure to stop by your local pro shop and drill one up today!! Thomas Coco (Storm Staffer)

    Roto Grip Gremlin

Posted by Matt Fazzone on Jul 26th 2025

I drilled my Gremlin 4.5 x 4 x 4.25 with the goal of bridging the gap between my strong asymmetric balls and my more traditional symmetrical pieces. After throwing it for a while, I quickly fell in love with the shape it creates on the lanes. The Rondure MaxD core paired with the V-R1 Pearl coverstock gives me a clean look through the fronts and mids, but what really stands out is how hard it corners downlane — even more than some of my symmetrical balls. It offers a really unique motion: predictable but punchy, and versatile enough to play with shape without sacrificing control. If you're trying to fill that space in your lineup between big asymmetrics and smooth symmetrical pieces, the Gremlin is absolutely worth checking out. It’s already becoming a favorite among bowlers and I can see it being a must-have as the season gets going.

    Roto Grip Gremlin

Posted by Darren Wong on Jul 26th 2025

The Gremlin features Roto Grip’s newest cover stock- V-R1 Pearl. Many have comped the Gremlin to the UC2 and I’d agree that pretty accurate. The pearl cover with power edge finish is pretty clean. The Rondure core that was in the UC2, UC3 and Tour Dynamix has been modified (maxed out) in the Gremlin by changing the density of the block and slug. As a result, the RG and Dif of the Gremlin are higher than the previous balls with Rondure core. For the 15# Gremlin, the RG/Dif/PSA is 2.50/0.58/0.010. The cover core combination results in a clean, easy push through the front part of the lane and rounded continuous down lane motion. So far, I have found on a house pattern the Gremlin still reads when I got it in the oil. When I circled it with my normal release, it did get a little forward as it entered the pocket. But then, I changed my hand position to get a little more tilt and rotation and boom, the Gremlin finished over the 8 pin. On the 44 foot PBA Hardwick pattern, I tried it at the end of a 7 game block, and it read the dry a little too quick. When I opened up my angle to that dry, it missed it. But that is what I would expect on that pattern. The Gremlin is probably not meant for a longer pattern which has been broken down with straight angles through the front. Bottom line, I’d say this is a good, versatile pearl medium asym ball which will fit right in between your strong asyms like the X-Cell, Physix Black Out, RST Hyperdrive, and weaker VEBO, Typhoon, type balls. I drilled mine pin up 2.5 buffer, 4 ½ from my PAP with PSA 4.

Roto Grip Gremlin – WWRD 7/18/2025

Cover: V-R1 Pearl Reactive Core: Rondure MaxD RG: 2.50 RG. Diff.: 0.058 Finish: Power Edge Roto Grip’s new Gremlin is a Pearl Asymmetrical piece that is good for Medium-Heavy Volume patterns. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers, CG kicked out 1” from the palm, and 1” Left of the Mass Bias. I threw this piece on a Fresh 43’ House pattern. Out of Box ball motion was clean through the fronts with a half circle shape on the backend. I compared this to Attention Star. Attention Star was similar through the Fronts but has a Sharper motion on the Backend compared to the Gremlin. The Gremlin is a good step-down piece to the Attention Star. This piece will be good for all types of styles. Check Out the Ball motion Video on my Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/16wpRBkFXo/

    RG Gremlin

Posted by Keith C on Jul 22nd 2025

Layout:L 4.25 x 4.25 x 1 OOB surface Polished w/Power Edge Broken Down THS SPI description: Your new favorite pearlized ball has been hatched to help advance your game in ways you didn’t know you needed. Now some will say, “hey, I’ve seen that core shape before” and to those we say, “yes, yes you have.” BUT what we can also say is that you have never seen this MAXED-OUT version of this core shape before known as Rondure™ MaxD. That’s right, our team of mad scientists in the R&D Lab pushed this core shape to its limits by changing the densities of both the block and the slug on bottom to create the highest RG value and highest Differential value this part has ever seen. From its inception, this mild asymmetric shape was created to emulate the motion of a symmetric core shape with a balance hole in it. Fast forward to this newest version, and well, even though previous models were fantastic, this version is without a doubt the longest and most continuous down lane that we have ever seen. But it doesn’t stop there, the mad scientists in the R&D Lab also managed to formulate a brand-new nano-free coverstock material during this development and testing process as well. That’s right, the versatile response (V-R1) cover formulation was created to handle a wide range of oil conditions and oil types. From the fresh, to the transition, to the burn, this cover provides easy push through the front of the lane while consistently responding to friction down lane without getting out of control. My Take: Smoother with a more pronounced bite the a UC2. The new VR1 Pearl cover is stronger yet cleaner than eTrax Pearl. The modified Rondure MaxD core provides a rounder reaction shape compared to my UC2. Definitely a transition piece or high friction THS in league. Being a tweener I'm very confident when switching to the Gremlin from the bigger asyms and symmetrical balls. Clean with a readable reaction is best I can decsribe the Gremlin. Higher revrates and 2 handers will probably have the most fun curving the lanes, but us Tweeners and strokers will have the best control pearl on the market. Beast mode unlocked

Posted by Trevor Kopas on Jul 22nd 2025

Pattern: 41ft house shot Layout: 70 x 4 1/2 x 40 Finish: Box (Power Edge) The Roto Grip Gremlin features the Rondure MAXD core which has been modified to its highest RG and differential possible. Complimented with a nano free coverstock in the V-R1, this asymmetrical pearl gives the feel of the old school symmetrical with a weight hole without actually identifying as such. This ball reminds me a lot of the Rubicon UC-2 in its motion, just with a stronger backend due to the updated finishing product, Power Edge. When I used the ball in the practice time before league, it would go a little too long on the fresh, but I decided to take it out for game 3. On the burn, this ball is a BEAST. 300 game first game out of the box. Highly recommend this piece if you are looking for a complimentary pearl for your big asymmetrical balls. This ball has some room for error and responds well on most conditions. Trevor Kopas Pro Shop Operator Storm Staff Ambassador #Bigboybowling

    Roto Grip Gremlin

Roto Grip Gremlin Layout: 4.5 x 4.0 x 2.0 Storm Pin Buffer Layout Rev Rate: 325 rpm, 7 degree of axis tilt, 40 degree of axis rotation Testing information: 41 foot THS (medium to light volume) Bowling Center: Fulton Bowling Center IKON Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane The Roto Grip Gremlin utilizes the V-R1 pearl reactive cover along with the Rondure core made famous in the Rubicon series. The Gremlin does not use the A.I. core technology. I am not sure why but it seems to work in the Gremlin. I drilled mine before a trip to Oklahoma City to bowl a SABA at Holiday Lanes. I had a good look with it on the house shot on the wood lanes side. There was too much oil on the synthetic lanes side of the center for the Gremlin. I see the Gremlin as one or two step down from the strongest balls in my arsenal. My tournament arsenal (current) 1. Storm Ion Max 2. Storm Physix Blackout 3. 900 Global Origin 4. Gremlin has hatched!

Posted by Dave Jecko on Jul 18th 2025

The Gremlin has hatched and is ready to strike! It features the brand new V-R1 (Versatile-Response 1st Edition) pearl cover and the Rondure MaxD core. The V-R1 cover was created to push through the fronts and provide a consistent reaction to friction on a wide variety of patterns and oil types. The Rondure MaxD core, first seen in the Rubicon series, has been pushed to the limit to generate the longest and most continuous downlane reaction in the HP3 line. The Gremlin gave me a great look sliding on 30, looking 17 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 7-8. I was able to play multiple angles by changing my speed and hand position, but the Gremlin thrived the further left I moved. It also did an excellent job blending out the wet/dry on the high friction house pattern. When compared to the Rockstar, it was several feet cleaner and much sharper off the end of the pattern. I’ve had great success with HP3 balls from Roto Grip in the past and get a UC2 vibe from the Gremlin. If you are in the market for a pearl asymmetric ball that will compliment your strong solid/hybrid asymmetric balls, the Gremlin will be a must in your bag. Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out! Available on July 18. Roto Grip Gremlin Review

Posted by Tobias Myers on Jul 18th 2025

The Gremlin is the newest ball in the Roto line and features the V-R1 Pearl Reactive cover, Rondure MaxD Core, and comes with power edge finish. This ball is the first one in a while that does not feature AI technology. When throwing the Gremlin, it reminds me a lot of the UC2, both strength and shape. It is one of those balls that you can get left and throw right without having to worry about it not getting back. This ball has that good old hockey stick shape. This is a bigger asym Typhoon and would be a step down from the attention star and the equinox. For me, this is not going to be a fresh oil ball but when they burn up and you need to wheel the lane. This ball is going to be versatile for many styles and another great release from Roto Grip! Ball review link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBC-2_sjAgs&t=35s Tobias Myers #RotoGrip #SquadRG

Staff Review - Roto Grip Gremlin

Posted by Ryan Burks on Jul 16th 2025

? Staff Review – Roto Grip Gremlin ? Layout: 5 x 4 x 2 | ReactaGloss™ Finish Bowler Specs: 475 revs | 12° tilt | 45° rotation | PAP: 4¾" x 1" up ? The Rundown: The Gremlin might look fun-sized, but don’t be fooled—it’s a serious piece. Built with the new V-R1 Pearl cover and a maxed-out Rondure core, this thing glides through the fronts and hits the corner like a possessed pearl. ⚖️ Ball Comparison (Real Talk): Ball up from a Hyped Pearl Earlier and smoother than TNT Infused Cleaner and flippier than Exotic Gem ? Best Use: When the lanes are transitioning but you still want angle League nights when the fronts go but the backends stay strong Tournament days when symmetric motion isn’t quite enough ? My Take: Super versatile—reads early enough to control the midlane but doesn’t quit downlane. You can move in and trust it to come around without jumping or stalling. Great addition if you need something between your benchmark and your big asym.
