BEHIND THE DESIGN:
Given success and popularity of the original RST™ Hyperdrive, we felt there was no better time than now to create a follow up that was the ideal complement to the Roto Grip lineup of balls. In order to make sure we got the ideal cover, we put the R&D Team and ball testers to work.
After multiple rounds of testing featuring both hybrid and pearl materials, it was a unanimous decision that we roll with and introduce our newest formulation of pearlized material better known as U-R1™ (ULTRA-Response version 1). Compared to previous nano-free pearl materials, this material provides plenty of push through the front of the lane from every angle, while providing ULTRA response to friction down lane no matter the style of bowler. Lets just say if you thought the original Attention Star was out of this world... WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THIS!
Key Features:
- The RST Hyperdrive Pearl is a pearl asymmetric option that designed for medium to medium/heavy oil conditions.
- The ball is finished with Power Edge™
- Core: RST™ + A.I. Core – Same proven core that was used in the solid.
- Coverstock: U-R1™ Pearl Reactive – NEW pearlized reactive coverstock. It’s nano-free that creates ULTRA response to friction down lane.
- This combination of Core & Cover generates ease of push through the front of the lane, while providing a strong, responsive, and continuous move at the breakpoint making it ideal for all styles of bowler from a variety of angles on the lane.
Plays Well When:
- RST™ Hyperdrive – is too early and something cleaner with more reaction down lane is needed.
- Attention™ Star S2 – is too early and something cleaner with more reaction down lane is needed. Attention™ Star – isn’t quite enough down lane or through the pins.
- Gremlin™ - isn’t quite strong enough and a stronger core and cover combo is needed.
- Rockstar™ - is too early and something cleaner with more reaction down lane is needed.

Rst hyperdrive
I needed a 3rd game ball for league and this Rst Hyperdrive Pearl was the perfect ball for it. I had it drilled 3 3/4 x 5 1/2 x 1 3/4. This layout provided me with and angular and clean motion. Late game ball for when everything is over hooking. Highly recommend!!

Hyperdrive Pearl
The Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl is a great option for me when I want that strong asymmetrical motion but with a cleaner, quicker read through the fronts compared to the solid Hyperdrive. The pearl cover lets it glide with ease through the heads, but the RST core still gives me that heavy roll and strong continuation that defines the line. Compared to the Attention Star, the Hyperdrive Pearl is a little cleaner and more angular. For me, the Hyperdrive Pearl really shines in transition on medium to heavier volume patterns when I still want the strength of an asym but need it to store more energy and drive harder through the pins. RST HyperDrive Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson
Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl Coverstock: U-R1™ Pearl Reactive – Power Edge Weight Block: RST™ A.I. Core (Asymmetrical) Color: Space Blue / Deep Purple Review: The RST line returns! If you were waiting to see if this ball was going to be like one of those bad sequel movies that totally flopped then sorry but you’re wrong and very late to the party. This ball with the pearl cover + AI core looks even better than the original. Very smooth, very predictable, and does not need to see dry parts of the lane to hook. Our style: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). The RST line has become a staple for Roto Grip and they hit a home run with this release. This ball looks good on fresh house shots but better and more versatile playing multiple lines on longer sport patterns where you have more volume. Some houses with built in friction may not have enough hold on a house shot for this hook monster. If you are looking for that big pearl piece, or a replacement for an Attention Star, this is the one. RST Hyperdrive Pearl
Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl Coverstock: U-R1 Reactive Finish: Power Edge Core: Roto Star Tour A.I. Asymmetric (14pd) RG: 2.54 Differential: 0.055 Int Diff: 0.017 Layout: 5 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 4 Layout Extras: 2 1/2" Finger Depth, "X" - 4 1/2 D and 1 Inch Left Tester: PAP 6 1/2 R, 1 1/4 D Review: The RST Hyperdrive Pearl offers an optimized core design with a new and eye catching coverstock. This design is intended to maximize control while adding more length than the RST Hyperdrive. This ball pour is quite stunning too. The ball intent is to create a motion not readily seen in the SPI line of bowling balls. Bowlers with traditionally lower ball speeds and less revs will absolutely gravitate towards this ball. At recent MatchMaker events a number of players were shocked that the ball rolled well after the Hyperdrive was a bit "too much" for the player. One aspect I like to teach is that if you can achieve length and feel you have a good feeling of ball control it is a win. For me, the RST Hyperdrive has a limited use on house shots. For longer and heavier volume patterns it fits its role nicely. However, the RST Hyperdrive Pearl I am finding use on THS as this ball gets through the front part of the lane with ease. I even scratched mine up with a 3K pad by hand, which provided me more versatility. I'm very excited about this particular ball being a "big" asymmetric with A.I. and initial use has shown the ball has a nice and strong reaction yet I do not need to get overly steep with my angles. This is not what you generally see in most bigger OOB asym pieces. Be sure to grab a Hyperdrive Pearl today. It just might be the surprise of the season. Smooth Operator
I decided to go with something a little different on the RST Hyperdrive Pearl. The layout put the pin in my ring finger and it definitely gives me a smoother shape than normal. I was able to try it game 1 of league and I was pleasantly surprised with the reaction. I was able to play a touch more inside than I have been able to with the RST Hyperdrive in recent weeks. Unfortunately, the approaches were pretty rough for me as it was raining all day and a bit humid inside the alley, so I was not able to move left and get comfortable giving the ball a little shape. I am hoping that I can use it this weekend where I know there is a ton of friction. I feel like between the layout, coverstock, AI core and weight block, I gave myself something special in my bag.

RST Hyperdrive
TESTING ENVIRONMENT Type: Lakes Bowl House Shot BALL: Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl Coverstock: U-R1™ Pearl Reactive Core: : RST™ + A.I. Core Finish: Power Edge RG: 2.54 (14 Pounds) Differential: 0.055 (14 Pounds) MB/PSA: 0.017 (14 Pounds) ME: Right-Handed Tweener Speed: 14-15 mph Rev Rate: 220 PAP: 5 7/16 Right 1/8 Down Ball Layout: 50x4x20 I have been a huge fan of the RST line of balls and they seem to get better with each release and this RST Hyperdrive Pearl is another banger ball! This ball is great from different parts of the lane as well as to wear you put it in your current ball line up. For me this ball sits as my #2 ball just under the Origin EX. For bowlers that are needing a bigger ball this can also be their ball at the top of their bag. I used the RST Pearl at a center that is usually wet/dry aka over/under. Most balls we say are really clean, but I found the ball to really grip the lane but never really broke loose. Each game I moved 2-3 boards left and the ball just kept coming into the pocket with out being overly aggressive off the spot. RST Hyper Drive Pearl
RST HYPERDRIVE PEARL - Ball Specs Cover Stock: U-R1 Finish: Power Edge Core: Roto Star Tour (RST) block + A.I. Layout: 50 x 5 x 40 RG: 2.52 Differential: 0.055 Intermediate Diff: .017 Review The RST Hyperdrive Pearl features the RST block with A.I wrapped with the all new U-R1 pearl cover providing a clean push through the fronts of lane, storing energy for a powerful backend motion. I tested this ball on a 42 feet typical house pattern. I was able to stand anywhere from 20 to 32 boards and rolling the RST Hyperdrive Pearl between the 5 and 10 boards with great carry. The RST Hyperdrive Pearl is cleaner and rounder than the Roto Grip Exotic Gem. My ball layout is 50x5x40. This ball is awesome. This ball will be in my bag for league and tournaments. This is a great ball for all levels of bowlers. Order one from your local pro shop today! My ball review videos are posted on YouTube channel Stanley Waite. RST Hyperdrive Pearl
The layout is 50 x 4 1/2 x 30 (4 1/2 x 4 1/4 x 1 7/8 using the Vector Layout System. This ball is a great compliment to the RST Hyperdrive Solid. Provides me great length through the fronts, excellent downlane motion and consistent continuation through the pins. The RST Hyperdrive Pearl allows you to move in deeper, send it to the friction, and can trust that it will come back. Or if you like to play straighter, this ball will allow you to play in the friction just a little bit longer. After knocking some of the shine off, this is my favorite asymmetrical pearl in my bag right now! Grab this RST Hyperdrive Pearl… you will not be disappointed!

Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl – WWRD 9/19/2025
Cover: U-R1 Pearl Reactive Core: RST + A.I. RG: 2.52 RG. Diff.: 0.055 Finish: Power Edge Roto Grip’s new RST Hyperdrive Pearl is a Pearl Asymmetrical piece that is good for Medium-Heavy Volume patterns. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers, CG kicked out 1” from the palm, and 1” Left of the Mass Bias. I threw this piece on a Left Over House pattern. Out of Box ball motion started in the mids with a sharp backend reaction through the pins. I compared this to the RST Hyperdrive, Attention Star, and Gremlin. RST Hyperdrive 2-2 Right. Started earlier in the Mids with a smooth-strong backend reaction. Attention Star 1-1 Right. Clean through the fronts with a sharp backend motion. Gremlin is 2-2 Right. Similar shape but has a smoother backend reaction. This piece is good on medium patterns. And will be good for all types of bowlers. RST Hyperdrive Pearl Review
With the success of the RST Hyperdrive Solid, it was time for an upgrade. Introducing Roto Grips newest addition to the HP4 line, the RST Hyperdrive Pearl! This new asymmetrical ball is featured with the same RST A.I. core found in the Hyperdrive Solid and is introduced with a brand-new pearl cover stock known as the U-R1. Finished with Power Edge technology, the RST Hyperdrive Pearl generates the combination of the Core and Cover to allow the ball to push through the front part of the lane with ease, while providing a strong, responsive, and continuous move at the breakpoint to allow its energy to finish with great results! Ball layout: 70 x 5 3/8 x 40 and comparison to both my Gremlin and Rockstar (same layout applied). Bowling at my home center of Hudson Lanes, in Cortlandt Manor, NY on its 43ft THS, I was quite impressed with the ball motion the RST Hyperdrive Pearl can create. Very clean, very controllable on the backend part of the lanes. This ball can be a first game out of the bag, depending on the amount of oil and friction you get. With my rev rate around 400-450, I can migrate right to left with ease and not worry about the ball over hooking once it goes into the friction. In comparison, the Hyperdrive Pearl tends to be a little cleaner than the Gremlin, whereas the Rockstar and Hyperdrive Solid read the lanes earlier than expected. The Hyperdrive Pearl is best fit for attacking medium/heavy lane conditions. Be sure to stop by your local Storm VIP Pro Shop today and drill up a RST Hyperdrive Pearl! Thomas Coco (Storm Staffer)
