BEHIND THE DESIGN:
Given success and popularity of the original RST™ Hyperdrive, we felt there was no better time than now to create a follow up that was the ideal complement to the Roto Grip lineup of balls. In order to make sure we got the ideal cover, we put the R&D Team and ball testers to work.
After multiple rounds of testing featuring both hybrid and pearl materials, it was a unanimous decision that we roll with and introduce our newest formulation of pearlized material better known as U-R1™ (ULTRA-Response version 1). Compared to previous nano-free pearl materials, this material provides plenty of push through the front of the lane from every angle, while providing ULTRA response to friction down lane no matter the style of bowler. Lets just say if you thought the original Attention Star was out of this world... WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THIS!
Key Features:
- The RST Hyperdrive Pearl is a pearl asymmetric option that designed for medium to medium/heavy oil conditions.
- The ball is finished with Power Edge™
- Core: RST™ + A.I. Core – Same proven core that was used in the solid.
- Coverstock: U-R1™ Pearl Reactive – NEW pearlized reactive coverstock. It’s nano-free that creates ULTRA response to friction down lane.
- This combination of Core & Cover generates ease of push through the front of the lane, while providing a strong, responsive, and continuous move at the breakpoint making it ideal for all styles of bowler from a variety of angles on the lane.
Plays Well When:
- RST™ Hyperdrive – is too early and something cleaner with more reaction down lane is needed.
- Attention™ Star S2 – is too early and something cleaner with more reaction down lane is needed. Attention™ Star – isn’t quite enough down lane or through the pins.
- Gremlin™ - isn’t quite strong enough and a stronger core and cover combo is needed.
- Rockstar™ - is too early and something cleaner with more reaction down lane is needed.

RST Hyperdrive Pearl
Ball Specs: Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl U-R1 Pearl Reactive Asymmetric RST / AI Core Finish: Power Edge Layout: 4 x 4.5 with 1.5 Pin Buffer Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5” Over 1/2 up Rev Rate 300. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: The new RST Hyperdrive Pearl is a great looking and great rolling ball! I had this ball for a week or two, but I thought it would be too strong for my league house shot. Man, I was wrong! When I decided to roll the RST Pearl in league, I was very impressed by how easily the ball got down the lane and the back-end move is excellent. I have used this ball in league the last two weeks for all three games and have shot 700 plus both weeks. I do not have a high rev rate, but I am able to migrate left with my feet and target and the ball still gets the corner pins out. The entry angle of this ball for me is perfect and helps my carry substantially from what I was doing the first few weeks of the season. The RST Pearl is stronger than my Typhoon but a bit weaker overall than my Harsh Reality Pearl. The RST Pearl has more back end than the Harsh. I see no reason to change the box surface of this ball. The RST Hyperdrive Pearl has captured a place in my league arsenal for sure. Summary: The RST Hyperdrive Pearl is easy through the front with a great move down lane. The entry angle of this ball enhances pin carry. This ball should be a good fit for many styles of play. Glenn Wendel Storm Pro Shop Staff gwendel@comcast.net www.stormbowling.com

RG RST Hyperdrive Pearl
The new release in the HP4 line is the RST Hyperdrive Pearl. I am a huge fan of the original RST Hyperdrive. The motion of the Hyperdrive just fits my roll so well. It has the RG Gem Strength with more motion downlane. So when plant came out with the pearl version I was really looking forward to drilling one. I drilled it with same layout as the solid, 4 3/4 x 4 x 4 pin down. With the new coverstock (U-R1 Pearl Reactive material). Lets just this new cover is very clean through the fronts. I thought the Gremlin's cover was clean, but the RST is longer in my opinion. With this clean cover you get a lot more response off of the friction. At the Storm Matchmakers the RST pearl has been a big hit. With a lot of older lane surfaces out there this days, the RST is a perfect match for the 2nd, 3rd game in league or the later block of tournaments. Amazing League Ball
The Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl is a high-end, thoughtfully balanced tool: it marries the power and continuation of a strong core with the finesse of a pearl cover to offer a ball that’s punchy but controllable. It doesn’t try to be the wildest ball in your bag—it tries to be useful in more conditions, and it largely succeeds. I found it to be a great compliment to my Hyperdrive Solid. Both are laid out the same 4x4.25x2 great control but strong backend hook.

Hyperdrive Pearl
Hyperdrive Pearl Review The Roto Grip Hyperdrive Pearl has quickly earned a regular spot in my bag. It’s designed to be clean through the front of the lane with a strong and predictable motion downlane — and that’s exactly what it delivers. At its factory finish, the Hyperdrive Pearl easily glides through the heads without reading too early. Once it gets to the friction, it makes a smooth but decisive move on the backend and continues nicely through the pins. It doesn’t feel jumpy or over-responsive, which makes it easy to trust even on tougher nights. My layout is 4 x 3 x 2½, which I chose to help bring out a little extra down-lane pop without making the ball too flippy. That combination really fits my home center’s 44-foot house shot, where the backends tend to be on the sluggish side. The ball reads just late enough to clear the oil line and still have enough energy to finish strong. Where the Hyperdrive Pearl really shines for me is in game 2 or game 3, once the heads start to dry out and the stronger equipment begins to hook too early. At that point, this ball gives me a clean look through the front and enough recovery to keep striking. It’s the kind of ball that keeps me in the pocket when transition hits, without forcing big moves or guessing at speed and angles. Overall, the Hyperdrive Pearl fills that mid-to-late transition spot perfectly. It’s smooth through the front, dependable off the breakpoint, and still has plenty of drive through the pins — exactly what I need when the lanes start to open up.

RST Hyper Drive
Dual Angle: 70 x 4 x 25 Vector: 4 x 5 1/2 x 1 1/2 The RST Hyper Drive features the U-R1 Pearl Reactive cover wrapped around the RST Block + AI Core. This ball for me was super clear and angular down lane. I found the Hyper Drive to be a bit cleaner and sharper than my Attention Star. If your looking for a ball to get down the lane but pack a punch this is the ball for you.

Roto Grip Hyperdrive Pearl Ball Review by PJ Haggerty
The new Hyperdrive Pearl from Roto Grip is the newest addition to the HP4 line and it’s been a complete homerun. I was as huge fan of the original Hyperdrive and when a pearl version was announced, I was excited. The pearl version has been a staple in my bag since I drilled it and I don’t see that changing any time soon. The only difference between the original Hyperdrive and the pearl version is the coverstock. Our wizards in Utah has introduced the U-R1 Pearl Reactive which doesn’t included Nano but still provides an ultra-response time. This makes a huge difference between the original and the pearl and also gives us a nice 1-2 punch as players. In 15 pounds, the RG is 2.52, differential is .055, and PSA is .017. Those numbers tell me this ball wants to fly through the front, but because it has a huge engine, it wants to dig in the mid-lane, but then finish strong in front of the pins for ultimate success. I’ve drilled one so far and really like it. I drilled it a little weaker than the original Hyperdrive for the purpose of trying to use the pearl when I need more shape left to right. It drilled as 5 x 4 x 2. This puts the pin above my bridge and the mass bias just to the right of my thumb. I also scratched the surface with a used 3000 pad just to knock a bit of the shine off. The Hyperdrive Pearl rolls great, looks sweet, and strikes a ton. Go drill one!

HDP!
The RST Hyper Drive Pearl (HDP) is Roto Grips newest HP4 release. The HDP features the same RST core found in the OG but is now wrapped in U-R1 pearl and finished with power edge. I personally wasn’t a huge fame of the RST X-2, it felt too quick and clean. The HDP feels slightly earlier and rounder than the X-2. This offers more control and the ability to use it earlier and longer. The HDP has been my go to two ball in league and I have been able to use it later in tournament blocks. The HDP is available from any Storm VIP Pro Shop! Review Video: https://youtu.be/_ElPAX-Kwf8?si=0Sn-ce1Jy2L4_lKL

Hyperdrive Pearl Review
Layout: 5 x 4 x 2 Surface: Power Edge Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The RST Hyperdrive Pearl brings back the RST Block AI core combined with the brand-new U-R1 Pearl Reactive Coverstock. The new coverstock allows this ball to be very clean through the front part of the lane while the strong core lets it read the midlane very well. The length of this ball reminds me of the discontinued RST-X2 but with stronger overall hook. Compared to the RST Hyperdrive Solid, the Pearl is definitely cleaner but gives a lot of the same motion. Is it more responsive, yes. Is it more angular, not so much. The reaction is still a more rounded than angular shape on the lanes. On my 44ft typical house shot, I see a clean motion with a strong midlane and continuous reaction. What is nice about this ball, I find it to be useful to be both as a fresh ball and transition ball. The core and coverstock are strong enough to use it on the fresh as the reaction will not be over/under when there is cleaner backend on the lane. The power edge finish gets the ball down the lane again without being too angular. As the lanes start to transition, I was able to move more into the middle part of the lane while still seeing very good continuation through the pins. I did find it to be a more useful ball in the transition just due to its cleaner cover, but a simple surface change will allow it to be better on the fresh when needed. I did change the surface briefly to 2000 abralon to remove the power edge. The results I found was the ball was still clean, but the surface got the ball to slowed down even faster making it better for more oil. In my testing, I saw more midlane with a slightly more forward reaction down lane. Again, this type of ball reaction will be better for heavier oil and fresher conditions. I recommend this ball for anyone who likes the Hyperdrive Solid but wants a cleaner and more angular reaction. If you didn't have the Solid, the Pearl will be a good ball for the transition in most environments. Removing the power edge polish will allow it to be better on the fresh. This will not be the most angular asymmetrical pearl in the bag but will give a very consistent and continuation reaction great for a lot of different conditions. Adam Chase Storm Staff

Staff Review - Roto Grip RST Hyper-Drive Pearl
Roto Grip RST Hyper-Drive Pearl Review I drilled my RST Hyper-Drive Pearl with a 5 x 4 x 2 layout. Out of the box, it felt a little too long and jumpy for my liking. After knocking the shine down with a 3000-grit Vise pad, the motion completely transformed — becoming much more usable and reliable across multiple conditions. In league play, I actually prefer the surface closer to a 1500 Power Edge finish. At that level, it gives me the perfect blend of clean through the front and strong continuation through the pins, especially when the lanes get a little wet/dry and my symmetrical equipment starts leaving corners. On sport conditions, I found the ball to be fantastic at 3000 grit, particularly on medium-heavy, longer patterns. Once the lanes begin to open up, it reads the midlane predictably without burning up and still drives hard enough to split the deck, giving me confidence to move inside and trust the motion. Bottom line: If you’re looking for a piece that blends over/under on house shots yet really comes alive on longer sport patterns, the RST Hyper-Drive Pearl is a must-have in your arsenal.
