Roto Grip Wicked Gremlin Bowling Ball

I've loved both of the first two Gremlins, but the Wicked is a different kind of beast! The overall strength of the coverstock on this ball makes it perfect for fresh or heavy oil patterns. It has a massive amount of midlane traction, but it still continues through the pins really well. As with any ball with a strong sanded cover, this thing needs oil! When the Wicked gets to be too much ball, the Gremlin Tour-X is a great step down.

My Specs: Speed: (13-16 mph), Approx Rev Rt: (280-320), PAP: 4.25 x ½↑, Tilt: 10° Layout: 5x5x4 REVIEW: For me, I wanted this ball to be more of a transition piece (since I have so many other aggressive Asym solids like the Crux AI) where it could read more in the midlane and roll in the pocket downlane, so I put a very laid back layout on it, 5x5x4. I first tried the Wicked on a fresh house shot on Pro-Lanes with a medium volume 43 ft pattern. I was having a hard time getting the ball to read, seemed to me like it was just skating and not grabbing, which would make sense since the G-R1 cover does not have any nano particles in it at all. I also tried on SPL beds with a 42 ft medium volume and HPL beds with a 43 ft medium volume Glide conditioner pattern. I had the exact same results for all three scenarios. Before league in the SPL house, I hit the cover with a slightly used 1000k pad, and as we said in the 90’s WHOOP THERE IT IS!! Giving the Wicked a little more surface really woke the ball up for me and now it is exactly what I was looking for. Great midlane read, really good continuous downlane motion and a nice crack at the pocket. I think if I had to drill another one, I would put my benchmark layout on it which is 4x4x2, much more aggressive core position and pin buffer. Overall, my thoughts on the Wicked is that if you are wanting a good solid Asym that doesn’t hook at your feet, the Wicked is just the ball for you. After spending some time with the new Wicked Gremlin, I've come away impressed with its versatility and overall performance. The ball provides a strong read in the oil while still retaining plenty of energy for a noticeable move off the spot. It's not as early or aggressive as some of the biggest asymmetrical pieces in the SPI lineup, which actually makes it easier to match up for a variety of bowlers and conditions. For anyone looking for a reliable asymmetric that blends the lane and still drives through the pins, the Wicked Gremlin deserves a serious look. Give it enough oil, and it'll reward you with a strong, continuous motion and outstanding continuation through the pocket.

Roto Grip Wicked Gremlin Cover: G-R1™ Solid Reactive – 2,000 Grit Core: Rondure™ MaxD (Asymmetrical) Color: Citrine/Red/Purple Review: This series has been a fun release with a great name, color, and new/old tech. Like the original Gremlin, this ball does not have A.I. core technology that everyone is loving (Not sure why? No need for earlier hook?... but it does not seem to matter because this ball continues like crazy). This ball is basically a slightly modified version of the Rubicon. Our style: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 5x4x2 (pin is above bridge). There is not much asymmetry in this core so it is clean but the new coverstock really seems to grip the lane and provide quite a bit more movement than you may expect. If you are expecting this ball to be a step down from say an Ion Max Solid or Equinox Solid, you may be surprised. This ball overall has similar hook but because it does not have the A.I. core we feel it is more balanced throughout the lane and avoids that over/under feel, allowing us to stay in this piece longer on the fresh. If you are looking for a good starting piece for the upcoming league season this is a great fit. The Roto Grip Wicked Gremlin drilled 4-4-3.5 has been a great addition to my bag, giving me a strong and predictable reaction downlane. It reads the midlane smoothly while still providing plenty of continuation through the pins. The 4-4-3.5 layout gives me a nice balance of control and backend motion, making it versatile across different lane conditions. Overall, it’s a reliable ball that I can trust when I need a consistent reaction.

I was amazed by the New Gremlin Wicked for sure. Has a great mid lane reading and an awesome back end for a solid bowling ball. I'm very happy with how it rolls. With league season coming up, and even league season tournaments, this ball rolls amazing and can't wait to throw it more. I love the original Gremlin, I love the Gremlin tour and now the Wicked??!! It just shapes very well, and its fun to watch the wicked roll. Sure its a solid, a first shift, first game ball, heavier oil ball...but its seams a little easier to watch this ball go down the lane, and make the move if and when you need to. Then keep it in your hands a lot longer. It's an A+ in my eyes!

It’s got a lot of cover (strong solid reactive) and a lot of differential (0.058) so it picks up and flares! For the price point the ball is a ton of performance! Some of our bigger balls like Alpha Crux, Ion Max, roll REALLY early and burn up. The Wicked Gremlin is a little bit cleaner because it is straight reactive with no nano loads. If you’re bowling on a bad surface or light volume, Wicked Gremlin is a great ball 1 alternative that’s not going to bog down too much but still be plenty strong overall.

The Wicked Gremlin is strong and reads the midlane really well without being too jumpy downlane. It gives me a smooth, continuous shape and handles more oil without burning up too early. This will definitely be one of my first balls out of the bag on the fresh!

I loved how the G-R1 Solid provided strong mid-lane grip while giving the Wicked Gremlin a smooth, predictable mid-lane motion I could depend on as a straighter player. For me, the G-R1 Solid struck the perfect balance of traction and roll for my game. Often, solid coverstocks can be too much and cause the ball to roll out too early, or, after tweaking the solid’s surface, the ball loses its snap off the pattern and hits with a dull thud. But with the G-R1 Solid Reactive coverstock on the Wicked Gremlin, I found the 2000-grit Abralon surface gave it the perfect blend of skid, hook, and roll to keep me striking.
