    Storm Absolute Power Ball Review

Posted by Patrick Keiffer on May 15th 2024

Hello everyone and welcome to another Beyond the Arrows Ball Reviews brought to you by Striking Results Pro Shop, Bowlifi and Turbo 2 n 1 Grips, today we will be reviewing the new Storm Absolute Power. The Absolute Power has a low RG value of 2.48 which means it will rev up early and a medium differential of 0.050 and a high intermediate differential of 0.021 which will have a slightly sharp change of direction on the backend. The Absolute Power is the second installment in the Absolute line that has the Sentinel Core. The R&D team has also reduced the amount of weight block mass near the area where the thumb hole is typically placed. This ensures the Absolute Power will change direction and continue through the pins better and more consistently. As per the R2S Deep Solid cover, the coverstock is cleaner through the front compared to the flagship R2S formula. This yields a more aggressive shape to the pocket with more overall angle through the pins. I did a ball comparison to the Storm Absolute Power and the 900 Global Xponent at 42 ft house shot, 25 ml of oil. In comparison to the Storm Absolute, the Power starts up earlier in the midlane due to the Deep solid cover verses the deep hybrid cover of the Absolute. The Absolute will hook more in the backend then the Power which makes them a powerful one-two punch. In comparison to the 900 Global Xponent, the Power starts up earlier and hooks more in the backend but where the Xponent has a lower flare potential where it will be a good where the Absolute is a little too long, the Xponent will be that in between piece. As per the surface adjustments, the Absolute Power has a box surface of 4,000 abralon, where I saw went too long especially on heavy oil. On heavy oil the optimum surface would be a 1000 grit Abralon. In the bag, will be the Absolute Power, Optimum Idol, Absolute and the VEBO Please pick up a Storm Absolute Power at a Striking Results Proshop near you and please like and subscribe to my page Beyond the Arrows Ball reviews. Storm Absolute Power

Absolute Power- Ball Specs Cover Stock: R2S Deep Solid Reactive Finish: 4000 Grit Core: Sentinel Core RG: 2.48 Differential: 0.050 Intermediate Diff: .021 The Absolute Power is Storm’s newest addition to it’s Premier line and the Solid version of the Absolute. The original Absolute was very conditional for me and could become very over/under but with the R2S Deep Solid Reactive Cover on the Absolute Power, that issue is now gone. The Absolute Power is now the first ball out of my bag, as it is very strong in the Midlane with a very continuous, but predictable motion on backend. For me this reminds me of a stronger Phaze II reaction that I would throw on more of a Medium to Heavy oil lane condition. This is definitely going to be one of the more popular releases on the year.

    Storm Absolute Power Ball Review

Bowler Stats: Speed: 15.5 MPH Rev Rate: 250 RPM Tilt: 6.6 degrees Axis Rotation: 80 degrees PAP: 4 5/8 over 1 5/8 up Layout: 5 X 4 X 21/2 VLS Video Review: https://youtu.be/CPu85zVdjyg With the release of the Absolute Power I was hoping it would fit in my arsenal better than the original Absolute. The original had a lot of under/ over ball reaction for me since the core is so strong and the R2S Deep Hybrid cover is so clean. On this release I put a benchmark type of layout on it to have a smoother more controllable ball motion out of this strong asymmetrical piece. This ball with the stronger Sentinel core and R2S Deep solid coverstock gives me a ball I match up better with and it has a similar but earlier ball motion than the Rubicon. By using a benchmark layout I have a more predictable ball motion to help me see when the lanes are transitioning. The R2S Deep Solid cover is also a versatile cover and can be used at different grits and even polished. This ball is versatile for me on the PBA 50 Tour. I am able to use it on multiple patterns. Storm Absolute Power

Right Handed PAP - 3 7/8 up 1 1/2 RPM - 400 MPH - 16-17 Tilt - 17 Emerson Lanes Parkersburg WV 42 House Shot 44 Kegel Lithium The new addition to the Storm Premier Line is the Absolute Power. The Power is the Solid version of the original Absolute. To be honest I had a hard time matching up with the original Absolute. But with the solid cover (R2S Deep Solid) this to me was a totally different ball. I drilled mine 4 1/4 x 4 x 2 pin up. The Absolute Power is a Home Run to me! The power just reads the pattern the correct way. It the most motion I've seen downlane out of a Asymmetrical Solid in a long time. The Power really excelled on the longer patterns like the Kegel Lithium pattern that I bowled on. I have drilled 3-4 for customers at the shop from 2 handers, strokers, crankers. The Absolute Power rolled great for all the different styles! I think it is a must have in bowlers arsenals! Bowl up a Storm!

    Storm Absolute Power

Layout: 45 x 4 ½ x 35 As with the original Absolute itself, the combination of a weaker cover and a strong core results in a unique ball reaction for the Absolute Power. It is clean through the front but has a reliable arcing midlane/backend. This ball rolls the best for me on medium oil conditions, as the coverstock does not have enough strength to dig through heavy oil. When I encounter heavier oil, balls such as the Optimum Idol or the Summit are much better choices. As the lane breaks down through the night, moving to the Absolute Power is the right move. As with the original Absolute, when this ball encounters the correct lane condition, the pin carry is markedly fantastic.

Storm Absolute Power Coverstock: R2S Deep Solid Reactive Finish: 4000-grit Abralon Core: Sentinel Core RG: 2.48, Diff: 0.050, PSA: 0.021 (15 lbs) VLS Layout: 5 x 4 x 4 1/2 Dual Angle Layout: 50 x 5 x 70 PAP: 5 3/16” right x 5/8” up Rev rate: 400 rpm Average speed: 16.5 mph Location: Prairie Lanes, Sun Prairie WI Pattern: Medium volume THS The new Storm Absolute Power brings a solid version of the Absolute to the Premier Line. The Power again features the single density Sentinel Core which will help the ball change directions and continue through the pins more consistently. However, new for the Absolute Power is the R2S Deep solid reactive cover that is intended to create a little more midlane read compared to the shiny hybrid cover on the original Absolute. I’ve made it no secret that I did not get along all that well with the original Absolute. For me, the original Absolute was undoubtedly one of the cleanest balls I’ve ever thrown, to the point that I found it generally inconsistent and only useful in specific instances. So, I was pleased to hear that the Absolute Power featured a solid cover and would perhaps be more useable. Indeed, the Absolute Power is a much more versatile ball compared to the original thanks to the solid coverstock. The Power is still surprisingly clean through the front part of the lane, but picks up traction in the midlane and has a slower response to friction that creates more of an arcing motion on the backend. The Power will certainly cover a lot of boards, but I wouldn’t consider it to be an overly strong asymmetric solid like the Storm DNA; the overall reaction reminds me more of a symmetric solid akin to the Phaze II. The Absolute Power is a ball that would fit right in the middle of most bowler’s arsenals. It seems to be best-suited for medium-volume oil conditions and would be a great choice for bowlers looking for a ball with a solid coverstock that’s not quite as strong as other big-hooking asymmetrical solids, but makes a slightly stronger motion compared to symmetric solid balls. Absolute Power +

My Layouts: Pin down: 4.25 x 3.75 x 3.75 Pin up: 5 x 3.25 x 1.5 Both in OOB surface Tested 42' Medium/Heavy THS The Storm Absolute Power bowling ball is a true force of nature on the lanes, embodying the essence of raw power and precision. In this review, we'll delve into its exceptional performance characteristics, focusing on its midlane control, torque generation, and uniquely textured coverstock. Midlane Dominance: Pin Down The midlane control of the Storm Absolute Power is nothing short of impressive. The Sentinel core design and R2S Deep work in perfect harmony, providing a predictable and smooth transition through the midlane better than the Absolute for me. I used this primarily on the fresh for my style where it performed the best. better suited for medium to heavy oil conditions, this ball maintains a steady and controlled motion, allowing for optimal pin carry and increased hitting power. The midlane read is consistent in showing when to make any adjustments or ball changes for me. Great readability as I can change to the Pin Up layout for a booming backend shape. Carry is a 9/10 in my experience. Torque Unleashed: Pin Up No issues in generating torque, the Storm Absolute Power stands out as another true powerhouse in the Premier line. The core's dynamics and the ball's weight block were designed to create a strong and angular backend reaction. As the ball reaches the end of the oil pattern, it unleashes a powerful turn. This torque-driven motion enhances pin action and increases my carry percentage. Coverstock: The textured R2S Deep cover of the Storm Absolute Power is unique surface finish which creates additional friction, allowing the ball to read the lane effectively without sacrificing its midlane predictability. When in use for me, this makes the Absolute Power versatile, excelling on various oil patterns and ensuring a consistent reaction that adapts to changing lane conditions. Conclusion: Bowlers seeking a ball with an aggressive backend response will find the Absolute Power to be a formidable weapon in their arsenal. Visit your local VIP Proshop today #stormnatiopn

    Absolute Power

The New Storm Absolute Power is the latest addition to the absolute line. This ball is wrapped in the r2s deep. I drilled mine 45x4x50 this ball is very clean for me with my loft. I touched the surface using a 2000 pad and it really helped see the shape of this ball. I would suggest this ball as a nice step down from A Gem or Magic Gem for when see start to see more friction.

Absolute Power Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson

Ball Specs: Storm Absolute Power 4000 Grit R2S™ DEEP Solid Reactive Weight Block: Sentinel™ Core (Asymmetrical) Color: Berry/Tangelo/Steel Review: SPI really pushed this piece heavily on social media. We didn’t really match up well with the original Absolute. We felt it was a little too clean and never really had that back-end reaction we felt it needed with box surface to help the cleanliness of the ball shape. Taking that ball and adding a solid cover and knocking the finish down really helped give the Absolute Power the shape we were looking for in the original. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). This ball is smooth on the fresh with that down and in motion, surprisingly smooth for an asymmetrical ball. It also blends the lane nicely in that game 2 and game 3 scneario where you need to move a little left. We can see this ball being one of those pieces that you stay with for several games making small adjustments before having to ball down or go to something slightly cleaner. For these reasons, this is a special piece. It is a ball for league bowlers, tournament players, and everyone in between. Make sure you grab an Absolute Power today! Storm Absolute Power by Casey Murphy

Orientation: Right Handed Rev Rate: 400 RPM Speed: 16-17 MPH PAP: 4 ½ over and 1 1/8 up Location: Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO Pattern: High Volume THS VLS Layout: Layout 1: 4 5/8 x 4 x 2 ½ (pin above bridge) Layout 2: 4 1/4 x 4 x 4 1/8 (pin below bridge) I’ll be honest I wasn’t a fan of the OG Absolute. It wasn’t as dynamic as I was hoping and didn’t hook enough. The Absolute Power doesn’t have that problem. The Power feels like a much stronger cover and hooks plenty but also has a good amount of backend. The R2S Deep Solid pushes through the fronts and backends quite a bit for an asym solid. I love this combination in an asym because it allows me to use it more. The big chuggy asyms have their purpose but I can get trapped in them pretty easy if they have too big of a cover. The Power feels much more usable because of the versatility of the cover. The Absolute Power is perfect if you’re looking for an all-around solid asym.
