Storm EquinoX Hybrid Bowling Ball

The Storm Equinox Hybrid features the Solarion AI Core wrapped around the A2S Hybrid Cover. I drilled mine 4 x 4.5 x 2, and after throwing this ball for a while, I absolutely love the motion and shape it creates! This ball is just as angular as the original Equinox, but still allows me to move inside and continue through the transition, much like the Solid. That combination gives me a ton of versatility and makes this ball incredibly easy to use throughout a session. I think the Equinox Hybrid will be an absolute staple in the bag for everyone. With a little surface, it can be great on the fresh, but as the lanes start to transition, it gives you the ability to get through the front part of the lane while still creating plenty of motion down lane.

The Equinox Hybrid is the newest addition and third installment to the Equinox line from Storm Products. This asymmetrical ball features the returning Solarion AI Core that was used in both the Equinox Pearl and Solid, topped with the A2S Hybrid Reactive Cover Stock, and finished with Power Edge Technology. The colors on this ball is also top notch in the nebula, flare, and void design, along with the fragrance of Orange Creamsicle. Built on the success of the first two balls, the Hybrid delivers more traction and backend motion bowlers are looking for. Ball layout: 50 x 5 x 35. I tested the Equinox Hybrid at my home center on a fresh league pattern at 42ft and compared it to both my Equinox Pearl and Solid. Fresh out of the box, I found the Hybrid to be a lot cleaner than the Pearl, with a sharper backend motion. The Solid, which I would find more suitable on fresher conditions and more volume, reads the mid lane earlier for a smoother backend reaction. The Equinox Hybrid can be a little tricky right out of the gate depending on the volume, as it can struggle to react down lane and carry the corners. I would find this ball to be more of a transitional option once the friction starts to open up and you have more room to play with. Overall, I would consider the Equinox Hybrid to be a great option for medium lane conditions and transition that would fit for a variety of bowling styles. Introducing the Equinox Hybrid, the third of its series. This ball has the same core as the Equinox Pearl and Solid, but this hybrid version makes the motion so user friendly. This ball is suitable for all house shots and is very versatile. The layout I have on mine is 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 x 2 (60 x 4 3/4 x 30 using the dual angle layout). I tested this ball in a different center and wanted to see how it will react. This motion gave me great length through the head with a nice continuous motion through the pins. Plus, it provided me some great recovery room missing both in and out. This motion is amazing and can’t wait to get another one with a pin down layout to compare with each other! I compared this to the Original Equinox and EquinoX Solid. Equinox is cleaner through the fronts with a hockey stick motion on the backend. EquinoX Solid starts earlier in the mids with a strong backend. This piece will be good for all types of styles. The Storm Equinox Hybrid is exactly what I want from a hybrid bowling ball! It provides the perfect bridge between my solid and pearl equipment. Mine is drilled 45×5×40, a layout I use on many of my asymmetrical and symmetrical pearl balls, and the Equinox Hybrid gave me a very predictable reaction. Compared to a solid, it reads the lane a couple feet later, while still picking up a couple feet earlier than my pearls. This creates a fantastic middle-ground shape that is reliable off the spot without being too early or too responsive. Another great feature is how easily the reaction can be manipulated with surface or polish depending on what the lane is asking for. If you're looking for a versatile hybrid that truly fills the gap between your solids and pearls, the Equinox Hybrid is an excellent piece to have in the bag.

The Equiniox Hybrid might honestly be my favorite Equinox out of the series. Not only does it have my favorite scent Orange Creamsicle, the ball is so clean through the front part of the lane and not too crazy on the backend of the pattern. I have been able to use this ball mainly for transition in game 2 and then using it fully game 3. Now when I subbed at one of the other centers in the area, I was able to use this ball for almost 3 full games. For me it seems to work well when there is a little bit more friction to the outside part of the lane. I can move right with more ball speed and this ball just drives through the pins.

The EquinoX Hybrid is the third ball in the EquinoX line and fills the gap between the pearl and solid. It has been specifically designed to be the most usable big ball in bowling. It features the A2S hybrid cover with Power Edge and the Solarion A.I. core, which has been used on every EquinoX. The A2S hybrid has the perfect blend of solid and pearl components to ensure traction in the oil, but still maintain energy downlane. Our league pattern can get tricky through transition and the EquinoX Hybrid did an excellent job blending it out and providing me with a more consistent reaction. When compared to the EquinoX Solid, the hybrid cleared the fronts better and provided a stronger change in direction off the end of the pattern. I struggled to use the solid in league because it picked up too early and I can see the hybrid being a great fit. In tournament play on medium/heavy to heavy lane conditions, I would start with the solid and when it starts to quit downlane, the hybrid will be the perfect ball to go to. Within my current bag, the EquinoX Hybrid will be a step down from the EquinoX Solid, but just above the 900 Global Viking. Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out!
