Additional product information:

The Hy-Road 40 represents a throwback to the Hy-Road Pearl with a twist. At the heart of things is the venerable 2-piece Inverted Fe² Core. The very same found in all Hy-Road Series releases and the most successful core in the history of Storm. The A1S Pearl cover features one of the fastest oil absorption times across our family of brands. This helps the Hy-Road 40 combat the thicker oils of today while still providing that famous Storm backend shape.

    The Hy-Road 40 delivers!

More than simply an anniversary ball celebration, the Hy-Road 40 takes the success of Storm's most proven Inverted Fe2 symmetrical Core and wraps it with the latest cutting-edge coverstock technology, the A1S Pearl, making the Hy-Road 40 a Thunder Series Hy-Road in a class by itself! So, let's take a closer look at the Hy-Road 40 and explore what's behind its success. The Inverted Fe2 Technology Core is one of Storm's most trusted and proven cores. And if you own or watch an original Hy-Road in action, you can understand why. The Inverted Fe2 technology Core provides a stable rolling motion that any straighter player loves to see. As a straighter player, I enjoy the predictability that the Inverted Fe2 Core shows, as it revs smoothly in the mid-lane and maintains that consistency throughout the lane. I liked the Inverted Fe2 Technology Core's ability to retain its energy as the Hy-Road 40 crushes through the pocket, while also having a strong continuation through the pins. I can count on the Inverted Fe2 Technology Core to deliver a strong pin reaction that keeps me striking, rather than deflecting or rolling out due to my low rev hand, which makes the Inverted Fe2 core inside the Hy-Road 40 a benchmark core any straighter player can count on. Although some may think the Hy-Road 40 is a new version of the beloved Hy-Road Pearl, I have news for you: the Hy-Road 40 is a whole new animal. The A1S Pearl coverstock is an excellent choice for the HY-Road 40. The A1S Pearl coverstock is part of Storm's new Adhesion System technology, and adhesion is a great way to explain how the A1S Pearl reacts to the lane. I loved the grip the Hy-Road 40 has throughout the lane without being overly aggressive or erratic off the pattern. I found my Hy-Road 40 to be smooth and consistent with the factory Power Edge finish, and the A1S Pearl had a crisp and decisive turn of the pattern. The Hy-Road 40 is an excellent choice for straighter players who like that consistent and blended traction that keeps them striking throughout the night. In conclusion, the Hy-Road 40 is more than a Storm anniversary release or a replacement for the beloved Hy-Road Pearl. The Hy-Road 40 is an excellent combination of a proven Inverted Fe2 core wrapped with Storm's most cutting-edge Pearl coverstock, the A1S. Together, this core and coverstock combination makes the Hy-Road 40 a fantastic symmetrical ball that belongs in any arsenal, especially for those straighter players like me. Review

Absolutely love this ball. Plugging in cleaner higher RG and High Diff balls to my arsenal is something much needed for my arsenal. I have a tendency to either see early hooking lanes or tightness down lane. The high rg high diff nature of the ball allows it to get through the front yet fight off the tightness down lane and continue through the pins. I like how this is earlier than the Hy-Road Pearl as it allows it to read the mid lane much better and provides more control. This ball is great for game 3 and on for me after the stronger or balls with more surface start to fade away.

    Hyroad 40 Review

Posted by Adam Chase on Jul 10th 2025

Layout: 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2 Surface: Power Edge Rev Rate: 470 RPM Tilt: 13* The new Hyroad 40 brings back the original Inverted Fe2 from the original Hyroad series but this time paired up with the A1S pearl coverstock from the Equinox. The strong pearl coverstock gives the ball more opportunity to shine in today's higher oil environments. Since the cover is stronger, it is a little smoother reaction then the original Hyroad Pearl. I got to try this ball on a typical 44ft house pattern. The stronger coverstock allows the ball to be a little bit more in play on the fresh. Although, not truly ideal, it can be used on the fresh if the environment is right. For me, the environment was not quite right as expected. The high RG of the Hyroad 40 gives me too much length for my style and is a better transition ball for me. Once there was enough transition on the lanes, I was able to play more of my comfort zone of 15 to 7 range. As there was more defined hook to the right, the ball became much easier to use and continued well. Compared to the Road Warrior, I saw more midlane strength and smoother ball motion. The Road Warrior saw the friction much harder with the same surface. I can potentially see having both balls in the bag if the surfaces are prepped slightly different. I would recommend the Hyroad 40 for anyone who just likes the shape of the Hyroad series but wants an updated model. For angle, I think the Road Warrior is a better choice with the AI Technology. For heavier oil, the Hyroad 40 will have a better look on the lane overall from left to right. Adam Chase Storm Staff

    Hy-Road 40

This non-A.I. offering in the Hy-Road series feels like a throwback, while providing performance for modern conditions. I have tried this ball on the league pattern and on some tougher stuff, and this ball really excels on flatter/more blended conditions by providing a TON of length and recovery, while still being relatively predictable and consistent. I have loved this ball as a 2 or 3 ball on medium-friction conditions, when i need a cleaner cover and/or higher RG to battle hook in the front part of the lane. This is a great medium ball for rev-dominant players as well as a great option as "weaker" ball that still brings plenty of performance. -Chase Valenzuela

    Hyroad 40

Ball Specs: Storm Hyroad 40 A1S Pearl Reactive Cover Power Edge Polished FE2 Core (Symmetric) Layout 4 x 4 with 2” Pin Buffer Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5” Over 1/2 up Rev Rate 300. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: I have had limited success with the Original Hyroad. The Original rolled well for me but the shape down land and the hit for me was not quite enough, until now! The new Hyroad 40 has really impressed me and is much better than I expected. This ball moves and hits better than any Hyroad I have rolled before. I am getting the length and back-end reaction that I was missing in the original. The pin carry of this ball is excellent, and I struck a lot on my first test session with this ball. I tried it out on our house shot and it rolled great and carried well using different parts of the lane and slight hand adjustments. This ball has already been selling well at the shop and the feedback is very positive. If you are a Hyroad fan you should love this one. I would call the Hyroad 40 a medium ball that fits just under my Ion Max Solid but above my trusted Tropical Surge. I recommend this ball to anyone who wants a medium ball with good length and a strong back end. I think this will be a versatile ball that will have many applications on the lane. Summary: The Hyroad 40 is my favorite Hyroad so far. The way the Hyroad 40 moves on the back provides hard hit and excellent carry. This is a good looking ball that pays tribute to 40 years of Storm innovation. Glenn Wendel Storm Pro Shop Staff gwendel@comcast.net www.stormbowling.com

    Hyroad 40

Posted by William Tefft on Jul 4th 2025

Ball Specs: Hyroad 40 Coverstock: A1S Pearl Reactive Core: Inverted Fe2 Finish: Poweredge Fragrance: Apple Crisp The Storm Hy-Road 40 is a striking evolution of one of the most iconic lines in bowling, designed to honor Storm's legacy while offering modern performance that stands on its own. Building on the trusted Inverted Fe² symmetric core, this anniversary release introduces the brand-new A1S Pearl coverstock, creating a ball that delivers unmistakable length through the front part of the lane and a decisive, angular motion off the breakpoint. What sets the Hy-Road 40 apart is how clean it gets through the heads without sacrificing midlane stability — it doesn’t feel lazy, just deliberate, like it’s waiting for the right moment to turn the corner and unload. That makes it especially effective for players who like to migrate left as the oil breaks down and need a ball that can shape the lane without over-skidding or jerking off the dry. Compared to other Hy-Roads, it reads earlier than the original Pearl but still finishes harder than the OG Solid, giving it a spot in the bag where control and pop coexist. On medium and transitioning conditions, it shines predictably enough to trust, but dynamically enough to carry light hits and push through traffic. It’s not a heavy oil monster, and it doesn’t try to be — instead, it thrives in that sweet spot where most league and tournament bowlers live. The teal color gives it a classic, clean look on the rack, and once it hits the pins, the sound reminds you why Storm balls are so trusted. For bowlers who appreciate the Hy-Road heritage but want something with a fresh edge — sharper, more responsive, and ready for modern conditions — the Hy-Road 40 is more than just a tribute. It’s a statement piece built for today’s game with the soul of a legend. Will Tefft Storm Staff Member will@parklanes.net www.strombowling.com #Stromnation

HyRoad 40 Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson

Ball Specs: Storm HyRoad 40 Coverstock: A1S™ Pearl Reactive with Power Edge Weight Block: Inverted Fe² Technology™ A.I. Core (Symmetrical) Color: Teal Review: Celebrating 40 years of technology! This benchmark pearl should be good for many reasons. First, it is a part of the Road line, one of the GOAT lines in all of bowling. Second, it is the second in the line to feature the new A.I. core technology, and yes the technology actually DOES hit different! Third, this Road features the A1S cover, which is a banger and made famous courtesy of the Equinox! All of these blend together to form one of the premier benchmark balls in all of bowling in our opinion and a great way to commemorate 40 years of tech! We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). For us this ball is like an original HyRoad on steroids. It is a touch more responsive, a touch stronger, and probably a touch earlier. The Road series looks great on house patterns which is why we think you will see a lot of these going down the lane. It really is a new age house shot killer. This can be the first out of bag, second, even third in some cases. It is versatile, responds great to surface changes, and you truly cannot get this in your bag stronger. Storm HyRoad 40 Ball Review Layout-4.75x3.5x2 Surface-Poweredge Polish RG-2.57 Differential-.046 Symmetrical Core Storm Bowling HyRoad 40 celebrates 4 decades of Storm Innovation.Hyroad 40 uses the orginal Hyroad weight block wrapped with the A1S pearl coverstock. The A1S pearl coverstock was used in the Equinox which is a very fast oil absorbing coverstock. The HyRoad 40 is going to create and clean motion through the fronts with a strong backend motion on medium lane conditions. The HyRoad 40 will be a great stepdown when your Phaze 2 is too early and you need more length.I have found that the Hyroad 40 will fit nicely between the Typhoon and the Phaze 2 but not as long as the Typhoon.I also comapred it to the Road Warrior the HyRoad 40 had a stronger motion on the backend.

    Storm Hyroad 40

Drilled my Storm Hyroad 40 (4 x 4 x 2). Medium Rev rate and medium speed bowler. The Storm Hyroad 40 is silky smooth through the front part of the lane storing energy to make a strong angular movement coming off the end of the pattern smashing the pins as the Storm Hyroad 40 drives through the pin deck. The Storm Hyroad 40 will be a great ball for lighter oil patterns or after the transition has settled down and the pattern has started to break down. #stormnation #SquadRG #strikingworldwide
