Additional product information:

Sometimes it's just better to let the R&D Team play around with various core and cover combinations and let them see what kind of chaos and havoc they can create. Such was the case with our latest addition to the HP3 Line known as the GREMLIN.

For starters, the R&D creatures found that when they "maxed out" the densities of both the block and the slug, the RG Value and DIFF Value both increased, while the mild asymmetric split lowered just a little, thus creating a cleaner and more angular motion down lane than we had ever seen before from this shape.

And of course they couldn't stop there. They then decided that in order to create a truly mischievous motion, they needed to develop a cleaner, more Versatile and more Responsive pearlized coverstock material, better known as V-R1™ (Versatile-Response - 1st version) to provide a new level of skid and snap that every bowling creature will come to appreciate.

    Roto Grip Gremlin

Roto Grip Gremlin Ball Review Layout-5.5x4x2 Surface-Poweredge Polish RG-2.50 Differential-.058 Intermediate Diff-.010 Roto Grip has brought back the Rondure Core which was used in the Rubicon UC2.In the Gremlin they have changed the densities to raise the RG and differential to create more continuation downlane. The Gremlin is a asymmetrical core wrapped with VR1 Pearl Coverstock. The VR1 is a nano free coverstock so it will be clean through the fronts with a strong backend motion downlane.I feel like the Gremlin is a UC2 on steriods. I compared the Gremlin to the Rockstar and Attention Star. The Gremlin compared to the Rockstar was longer with a sharper backend. The Attention Star was earlier than the Gremlin with a more foward motion downlane. The Gremlin will give you a strong backend motion but be a cheaper price point than the high performance balls. This is a great addition to the Roto Grip Family.

Drilled my Roto Grip Gremlin (4 x 4 x 2). Medium Rev rate and medium speed bowler. The Roto Grip Gremlin is silky smooth through the front part of the lane storing energy to make a strong angular movement coming off the end of the pattern smashing the pins as the Roto Grip Gremlin drives through the pin deck. The Roto Grip Gremlin will be a great ball for lighter oil pattern or after the transition has settled down and the pattern has started to break down. #stormnation #SquadRG #strikingworldwide

    Gremlin review

Layout: 5 x 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 Surface: Power Edge Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The new Gremlin brings back the Rondure core but now Maxed out in its current version. Slightly higher RG and differential gives the ball ample hitting power on medium to heavy oil. The coverstock is the brand-new V-R1 Pearl coverstock which creates versatile ball reaction on a wide array of patterns. The ball reaction of this one reminds me of Storm's root ball reaction of true skid flip motion. This ball gives an impressive amount of angle down lane while still being controlled. I was able to test this on my 44ft typical house shot. On the fresh, the response to friction was actually very high as the backends were clean. The angular motion got to the pocket fairly easily but was not smooth enough to tackle all the front head oil and clean backend. The rockstar here would be a much better option on the fresh. As the lanes transitioned and I needed to move left with my feet, the Gremlin did not stop coming. Very strong and angular backend motion while still getting down the lane with ease. This ball for me definitely loves the left to right motion more then up the lane. The further left, I got on the lane, the better this ball still became. There was no disappointment of backend angle from all areas of the lane. As I got the ball more to the drier part of the lane, I saw ample hook but sometimes over hooked when angles weren't the best. The Gremlin has a good shot to be a good fresh ball with the right layout but certainly shines in transition and carry down. A pin down layout would help smooth the angularity of this ball if that is what is desired. I would recommend this ball more towards bowlers who want to have that angular motion and who enjoy opening the lanes up more. This ball has worked for me on a variety of patterns from medium to long lengths and medium to heavy oil. Compared to the Rubicon UC2, I saw more strength out of the Gremlin but pretty identical backend angle. If you really loved the UC2 and angular ball motion, I definitely recommend this one! Gremlin Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson

Ball Specs: Roto Grip Gremlin Cover: V-R1™ Pearl Reactive – Power Edge Core: Rondure™ MaxD (Asymmetrical) Color: Plum/Raisin/Tanzanite Review: This is a fun release with a great name, color, and new/old tech. Surprisingly this ball does not have A.I. core technology that everyone is loving (Not sure why?... but it does not seem to matter because this ball continues like crazy). This ball is basically a slightly modified version of the UC2. Our style: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 5x4x2 (pin is above bridge). There is not much asymmetry in this core so it is clean and a step down from what you may think at first glance but it is a great piece that fits in between those symmetrical pieces and the bigger engine asyms like an attention start or harsh reality pearl. Because of all of this information it wouldn’t necessarily be a ball we start off with on the fresh. It will be a great ball to transition to because it is so clean and you can really open up the angles once the lanes break down a little bit. Overall we love the look of this piece and it will definitely get some time on the lanes and be a fundamental piece in our bag. Gremlin!

Posted by Joshua L. Shoemaker on Aug 1st 2025

The Roto Grip Gremlin is Roto Grips newest HP3 line ball. The Gremlin features the Rondure MaxD core wrapped in V-R1 pearl and finished with power edge. The Gremlin reminds me a lot of the Rubicon UC2 from a few years back. The Gremlin is very stable for such a clean piece without sacrificing the ability to get through the friction in the front part of the lane with ease. The Gremlin for me has been the perfect 2 ball in league allowing me to circle the whole lane or trap the pocket based on my hand position. The Gremlin is now available from any Storm VIP Pro shop! The gremlin that didn't disappoint.

Posted by Joseph on Aug 1st 2025

I'm not a fan of shinny balls the either died out or made a hockey stick motion that left me way to many splits to use. This is the first shinny ball for transition that came in key for me. Smooth and finished hard in the pocket. I tried it on the fresh the next day and to be honest It worked amazing! I moved over a few boards to the left(right handed) and slowed down my throw a little and still had that hard finish in the pocket. I fully recomend this ball to any style of bowler to control. I am a 2 handed bowler if this messes with your look on this review

    Gremlin 5x5x3

I went with something extreme for me and this ball did not disappoint. This ball lets me play a little straighter to start but as the transition happens it lets me go left and the ball still has plenty of energy to get back to the pocket. This is going to be a good addition to anyone’s bag.

    Dee's Reviews

The Gremlin is GOOD! I would recommend drilling the ball with a longer pin to pap. Even though the cover on the Gremlin is cleaner, the core still wants to flare. It is best used later in the block or when you need to open your angles. The core is very strong, so one of my recommendations would be to drill the ball a little weaker (Longer pin to pap) to help the ball clear the Midlane when having to move left. I see this ball getting a lot of play and because there isn’t much asymmetry to the ball it fits the gap between balls like: The Optimum Idol, Summits and Sublimes and Ion Max.
