Speed: 16.5. I drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers, CG kicked out 1” from the palm, and ½” above the Mass Bias. 5 x 4 x 2 ½. I threw this piece on a Fresh house pattern. Out of Box ball motion was that it started in the mids with a strong backend motion. This piece needs oil. 1st few shots I wasn’t far enough left for it to stay right side of the pocket. I compared this to the Gremlin and the Gremlin Tour-X. Gremlin is cleaner through the fronts with a strong backend. Gremlin Tour-X goes a few feet further down lane with a controllable backend. Roto Grip WICKED Gremlin: Core and Cover info: Rondure MAXD core wrapped in the all new G-R1 solid reactive coverstock finished at 2000 grit from the factory and I have kept both my WICKEDs at that surface. Layouts: 3 ½ x 4 x 1 ½ AND 6 x 5 x 3 The Gremlin series just got WICKED! The all new Roto Grip WICKED Gremlin is the solid coverstock version of the viral sensation and pin crushing Gremlin that was released some time ago. The WICKED uses the same Rondure MAXD core as the OG Fremlin, but adds the all-new G-R1 solid coverstock. The “G-R” stands for Grip Response, it is designed to provide that tackiness on the lanes without using any NANO particles to the chemistry of the coverstock mixture. I am fortunate enough to have 2 wonderful partners that help me drill and layout bowling balls for me, ABC North Pro Shop and Bowlers’ Supply. The ABC North one has a layout of 6 x 5 x 3 and the Bowlers’ Supply one has a layout of 3 ½ x 4 x 1 ½. Once I started using them, they were going to be used at each other's locations. Both WICKEDs provided great midlane strength without losing pocket carry or overreacting down lane. By far the best ASYS solid I have used in a long time that will be a mainstay in my league bags for both centers and not a “what if” ball like I had in the past like the HyperDrive RST or Equinox solid that were used mainly in my tournament arsenal. I will say that you will need to make sure you keep the WICKED clean, make sure you are using the all new Roto Grip Thickhide shammy before he shoots and use the Storm Reacta Cleaners to clean the surface after each practice session or league matches. To maintain the “tacky” feel of the G-R1 cover, make sure you hit the surface about every 20 games. As Storm Products does, they followed up an original ball with new versions with a change to the cover and/or core. For the Gremlin line, the original Gremlin was released about a year ago and had V-R1 pearl reactive coverstock and the Rondure Maxd Core. Then, the Gremlin Tour-X came out in March 2026 with a modified core- Rondure Tour-X that lowered the RG and dif. On the Gremlin Tour-X they also made the cover V-R1 hybrid. That cover/core combination makes it much more for a control piece. The latest in the Gremlin line just released is the Wicked Gremlin and is intended to be the strongest of the 3. It has the same Rondure Maxd Core as the original Gremlin which means the RG is 2.50 in the 15# and the dif is back to the much higher 0.058. The PSA or intermediate dif is 0.010. It has an all new cover which is G-R1 solid reactive which stands for Grip Response. It’s nano free, but as the name implies it has a unique tacky adhesion which reads the mid-lane and is designed for medium to heavy oil volumes. That strength in the cover makes the hook length fairly early and the ball shape very smooth, yet it still has a big flare potential. I figured it would be a strong asym in the ballpark with the Ion Max, Equinox Solid, RST Hyperdrive and Alpha Crux. Since I already have those balls, I went with a layout to be different from my norm and to accentuate the smooth nature inherent in the ball. So I went with a 5 ½ x 3 ⅜ x 4 ½. That longer pin to PAP pin down near my middle finger and a fully leveraged PSA should make it smooth to match up on the fresh. The Wicked Gremlin cover definitely digs into the lane off my hand, so it’s not going to have much free push. Then, depending on the layout, it can be rounded and continuous, but will probably not be quick and angular. I’d slot the Wicked Gremlin in below the Ion Max, above the Alpha Crux but similar in shape to those. I think its hook potential is similar to the Equinox Solid, but it’s probably a little earlier and smoother. So if you are looking for a top of your bag ball to throw on heavier oil volumes and on the fresh, the Wicked Gremlin could be a good choice for you.

This Wicked Gremlin is drilled with a layout of 4 3/4 x 4 1/8 x 2 1/4 (50 x 3/4 x 35 using the dual angle layout). This ball the perfect addition to the successful Gremlin line. The Wicked Gremlin provides a great amount of traction while giving consistent continuation through the pins. With an out of box finish of 2000, this is a great for me to start with on fresh oil conditions, and as the surface wore off, I was able to stay with the Wicked Gremlin much longer than I anticipated. The Wicked Gremlin has been an awesome ball for me with the 4 × 4 × 2 layout. It picks up in the midlane really well and has a strong, continuous motion through the pins without feeling too early. When I need a ball that handles more oil and still keeps driving, this is one I can always count on.

The Wicked Gremlin features the same Rondure MaxD core found in the OG Gremlin but is now wrapped in G-R1 solid. G-R1 solid is a solid base formula that does not have any nano additive in it. The new Solid edition of the Gremlin features the Rondure MaxD core that was featured in the original Gremlin but teamed up with a new solid cover called G-R1 Solid. This cover gives great mid-lane traction and when teamed with the powerful high differential core it creates plenty of hook. I was fortunate to catch a very fresh lane when I went to test the wicked gremlin. It was honestly probably the tightest lane I've ever bowled on in our home bowling center. I had a mini panic moment when I threw the first shot. After seeing this ball hook tons for everyone else I was surprised that I didn't see a big difference. I threw my Gremlin Tour X to see what the lane was doing and quickly realized that I was just seeing more oil on the lane. I adjusted right with the Wicked Gremlin and quickly found a great look playing around the track. I played with some angles and speed changes and really like how consistent the Wicked Gremlin was. The mid-lane roll of this ball is as dependable as it gets. I think the wicked gremlin is going to get alot of love with the pros especially on the women's tour. This is definitely a first ball out of the bag on higher volumes and its great for people who struggle to create the hook with their release. I'd say it's a little better than most "hook in a box" type releases. The slightly higher RG seems to give you more versatility compared to the really early big balls. The Wicked Gremlin is Roto Grip’s latest addition to the Gremlin series. This new asymmetrical ball complements the success of both the original Gremlin and the Gremlin Tour X. The original Gremlin gave us more length with its Pearl Reactive cover stock. The Gremlin Tour X gave us that ‘benchmark’ feel with its Hybrid Reactive cover stock. Now comes the solid edition. The Wicked Gremlin features the returning Rondure MaxD Core from the original Gremlin and is topped with the GR-1 Solid Reactive Cover stock. These features make the Wicked Gremlin Roto Grip’s strongest ball to date. Ball layout: 70 x 5 3/8 x 40. I tested the Wicked Gremlin at my home center’s league pattern (42ft). My first impressions were “this ball is strong; it definitely needs oil,” knowing that competing on house conditions does make me have to move my feet right (left-handed) and play a big swing. What does amaze me about the Wicked Gremlin unlike other solids is the core and cover allows more traction in the mid-lane and provides a much smoother shape down lane without hesitation. The core and shape blend easily through the pins. This would be a great ball to consider on fresh house shots as well as medium-heavy lane conditions. The name lives up to its expectations as this ball is truly wicked! Very much looking forward to testing this ball out on longer sport patterns! Layout: 4½ x 4 x 2 Surface: 2000 Rev rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The gremlin series is back but now with a solid version in the Wicked Gremlin. The Rondure Maxd core is brought back again while combining it with the new G-R1 solid coverstock. G-R meaning grip response as this cover reads the midlane pretty strong and has really good continuation for fresh medium to heavy oil conditions. This ball has the potential to work on heavy oil with enough surface on it and medium oil with lighter surface. I got to try this on a 43ft Mark Roth Oil pattern. On the fresh, I saw the ball float through the front of the lane and then give me a strong and continuous back end motion. It gave me hook to the right and some hold left playing around 15 at the arrows to around 8 at the break point. I was on pro-anvil lane surface so the lane surface allowed for easier length. As I moved in, I was surprised to see that the ball still had no trouble making it's recovery down lane. As the front part of the lane went away, the reaction became too smooth to carry well. I was able to give more rotation to get the ball to recover more. My first impression was surprised that the ball felt as strong as it does. The original Gremlin for me, is significantly cleaner due to the coverstock. Comparing both with the box surface, i saw significantly more length and backend with the Gremlin. The Wicked was much smoother and stronger in the front part of the lane. To make the balls a little more closer in length, i would bring up the surface of the Wicked or lower surface on the Gremlin depending on the lane surface. I recommend this for fresh conditions. It's a good step between the very strong asymmetrical solids and symmetrical solids. If you want a stronger Gremlin and/or Gremlin Tour X then this could be a real deal candidate for a new ball!
